Winchester 77

I have a 77 tube fed
I bought last week.
I come from Quebec Canada and I find no imformation here.

I'm looking for information about this rifles
no S/N on it,
I'm looking for date df manufacture
If someone have a copy of owner's manual or compleate takedown or other documentation about it, it will be verry appreciate and helpfull

I don't try my 77 , I whant to clean it before, but i don't know how to disassembly it.

you tube how to disassemble it, surely someone will have a detailed video. also google everythin you can about the 77's your sure to find something on manufacturing.

Cool! I have the same or similar model. Mine would start jamming after 150 rounds or so. It's a fun gun to shoot. I don't think mine has a serno either. It must be over 50 years old because my uncle got it before I was born.

Before the year 1968 Winchester did not give serial numbers to many of their less expensive .22 rimfire rifles because it was not required by law and it added expense. So your rifle probably has no serial number.

Wikipedia says that the Model 77 was manufactured from 1955-1963.

I got a Win 77 tube feed new in 1963.
My father got it whole sale through a buyer where he worked.
Retail was $55 and Winchester prices were at that time franchised, but the model 77 must have been on close out, because I got mine for more like $35.

But it was a terrible gun with sand in it.
I got rid of it in 1970.

I now own ~~ (11) 22 semi autos in rifle or pistol, and only one, a Marlin 88 can compete for the piece of junk status that my old Win 77 had.

Jacques, go to rimfirecentral.com and check out the Winchester sub-forum. A quick search should get you some more info. I read a thread about the Model 77 stating that the non-serial numbered rifles were actually the newer manufacture. Two digit date code can be found stamped on the bottom of the barrel just fore of the receiver, once you've removed the furniture.

Did it work better once the sand was out? I've read and also experienced that these guns don't like much lubrication at all as it tends to gum things up quickly. Once I minimized on that the rifle worked flawlessly. Now they are worth $250 - $300.

Winchester Model 77's were serial numbered, front right corner of the receiver until late 1955, then moved to the left side, then toward the rear. There's claims they stopped stamping them in 1959, but I have the polishing room records and serial numbers from 1955 to 1963. There was 217,180 made, more clip fed than tube fed.
