Default Trying to understand Peruta (Ventura County)

So from what the sheriff put out saying that:

Quote:
For purposes of this policy in reference to good cause, a need for personal safety or self-defense is currently satisfactory
Does this mean that I can simply list "Personal Defense" under the good cause section. Are they still going to do the face-to-face interview, and when that happens, won't I be asked to elaborate on that?

I am not sure how this changes anything unless I am missing something or just so brainwashed to think that there is still no chance.

Any thoughts?

That is why I am holding off until I hear other people's results.

The purpose of the interview as described by the Detective who interviewed me was to personally meet the candidate, to check that the form is filled out completely and correctly, answer any questions, and potentially elaborate. Think of it like a job interview. They just want to get an idea of who wrote the application. Ironically, I got the feeling that the Detective's job is also to help you get the permit. I was denied, based on good cause. I was never asked about my good cause although I did bring in documents to help support it. She (Detective) said I was an easy candidate - go figure. My interview pretty much went like; introduction, explaining to me the process and what were doing, going over my application to check that everything was correctly and completely filled out, went over what could be added to my application to make me a stronger candidate, and then asked if I had any questions.

It is certainly possible they could ask you to elaborate or "quiz" you. But I doubt it. "Lawful self defense" sounds pretty clear. If they do ask about it I would tread carefully as anyone asking for elaboration is fishing for wrong answers. Never make it appear like you want to get into a fight, want to be a vigilante, or sound like a tough guy.

That issuing agencies must accept "self defense" for good cause is the lesson of Peruta.

Several other Ventura threads for the rest.
