Default Ranges that allow shooting of AR Pistols?

Hi All!

I just picked out a SIG P556XI SWAT w/pistol arm brace for my first gun purchase and I'm wondering what ranges in the area will allow me to shoot it? Are there any regulations on what type of ammo I have to use?

Metcalf Field Sports Park in San Jose allows them.

GFOS in Dublin is a great place to shoot, worth the cost because it's a comfy environment, also the guy working there (Kurtis) is really cool and knows his guns so won't give you FUD about what you bring to shoot.

At Chabot the only issue is you need to shoot them on the rifle/pistol lines, not the pistol only lines, because they're really loud and annoying to the pistol caliber shooters.

I guess if you have a rimfire or pistol caliber AR pistol you can argue with them. :-)

I've seen AR pistol shot at Bullseye in San Rafael many times. They changed owner a couple years back. I'm not sure if polices have changed so I'd call first. I think some ranges require frangible .223.

IIRC, Bullseye does require frangible that is purchased from them.

Good for you. Now come down when you have a free weekend (that coincides with my freetime). I'll take you to my club range, you can rapid fire if you want, etc.

Now you just need a BFR so we can clear out Reeds. =D

Next time for an AR pistol, pick up an 80% and call me when you have 4 hours of free time.

Oh, and Merry Christmas and welcome to the gun owners club! Do us a favor and buy yourself NRA membership for next year too. They are defending your rights.

Haha, I'll have to show you my car audio next time as well.

If I build an AR, it will be a full size.

I just don't want to deal with that gray area. One AR pistol is good enough.

I actually was a NRA member when I was younger. Guess it doesn't hurt to sign up again.

Merry Christmas and I'm sure we'll have to meet up soon. Chicken?

Nice Sig Arm Brace. I just saw these at the store, but at the range I heard you have to use the arm brace and shoot single hand. You're not allowed to shoulder or use 2 hands.

Anyone have any confirmed input on this?

Shoot as you wish unless someone says otherwise. Don't turn this into a ATF letter thread.

As designed, the brace is supposed to be used by attaching to arm.

Metcalf does not allow shouldering or "cheeking" of an AR pistol. When I called to ask a couple years ago, I was told it will be shot like any other pistol or asked to leave.

I wish this weekend. Momma gets knitting time from 1pm which isn't enough time to get a good trip anyways. Besides, my new caplock doesn't arrive till Wednesday . Saturday will probably be Reed's day for me.

If I'm lucky, I can convince momma to let me go on the 7th. 14th is the black powder match, so she might leverage that to try to keep me home the 1st weekend.

What kinda runway do you need for preplanning? I can make arrangements far in advance to get freetime, it just costs more brownie-point capital up front. Which is OK, as long as it's worth it. Such as with shooting with buddies.
