If this was the ONLY new gun legislation guaranteed, I would take it in a heartbeat, but since we know this is only the tip of the ice berg, I'll keep my nickels..... might have to melt them down in to ammo slugs, ya never know.

No, give them nothing. And what they do pass, we should challenge in court.

No- it will drive reloading underground by making it too costly to practice. The tax would be applied to each component. Bullet. Case. Primer. So that puts 15 cents of tax on each cartridge you produce if you are purchasing the components through a retailer.

If this doesn't get struck down by the courts, does it mean that gangbangers can now be prosecuted for tax evasion when they procure bullets illegally and use them to shoot people?

I suspect this is actually a "cartridge tax" but just the same bullets can be acquired with a short drive over the hill.

Call and give this Democratic Socialist traitor a piece of your mind.

The bill is AB 760 and the legislative representative handling this for Assemblyman Roger Dickson is Less Spahn.

Does the bolded part mean that reloaders would be taxed multiple times (i.e., taxed for each compenent: bullets, primers, casings, poweder, etc.)?

.22lr bulk packs would now cost more in tax than in retail....

This reminds me of the cigarette tax. They figure if they make it expensive to shoot people won't do it.

People are doing drugs that cost them more than they bring home in a month. Doesn't stop them from doing it. Just makes them get more creative about how to get money. Steal, lie, whatever suits them.

I wish some common sense would prevail. I know that is asking too much from the loonies in the government.

G60 is spot on. See also: Simon & Schuster, Inc. v. Members of the N.Y. State Crime Victims with similar outcome on NY's son of sam law. What is most particularly bothersome about the Cal. bills is that the legislators who propose this leglislation do so either knowing or should know that such is unconstitutional under both the federal and state constitution.

If all of these stupid laws pass I will be taking 10k out of the ol' brokerage account and starting a class action lawsuit against the state and the feds. I guarantee I won't be alone and we will be able to afford and retain council that is way scarier than their council.

Hopefully retailers would get creative and for a simple donation to the store, you get a free box or boxes of ammo depending on the size of the donation. For a measly $25 donation, you get a free 525 pack of federal .22lr.

It's a fun game now. The lawmakers sit around trying to see how many new bills they can come up with to screw law abiding gun owners. It has zero to do with these sick guys that shoot up schools. Nothing to do with that at all. It has to do with power over the people and transforming our society into something else entirely.
