IMHO, you can't really compare the price of those to the .357, which seems to have more demand. Not really an apples to apples comparison.

OK well I may be out of touch. Maybe the demand for pistol calibers is driven up by cowboy action shooters or something....or maybe a CA thing.
Can't do much else with those but plink.

That's a Cowboy Action cartridge.

Those guys are mostly boomers and have money to spend. I guess maybe that drives demand here in CA.

I dont really understand your perspective. The 357 JM Marlins are worth more than most of the other usual chambera across the country. Take a look at GunBroker prices and the 357/38 are higher on average than say a 30-30 or 45-70. Its not a just CA thing.

I'm still kicking myself for selling my .41 Magnum 1894S with a microgroove barrel. One of the most enjoyable rifles to shoot. I sold mine for $750 nearly 8 years ago.

Agh! Yeah, I can understand that. Did you have a favorite handload for that rifle? Did you use lead or jacketed? How long was the barrel on the S?

You need another, even if it's an FG.

Ya, I picked up two different JM stamped levers, one in 30-30 and one in 32. Paid 150 bucks each, 6 mm this apart, in the last year.

Doesn't compare to pistol calibers. 😆

Yeah I can't imagine you'll see another one of those any time soon.
That was good money for that rifle 8 years ago though.

Cowboy action shooters use the 45 Colt, but in Marlin or Rossi rifles and Ruger revolvers the 45 Colt can easily be hot loaded up to equal the 44 mag.

Beware the "Marlin Jam" but there is a fix if it does start happening.

When I was younger and had better eyes...

I could watch my Cowboy load 45LC Marlin rounds go downrange to 100 yards.
