I would guess the age of Geoffs powder to be at least 40 to 45 years old. I know the Fed-Mart on Balboa never sold powder so his grandpa bought the powder at the Fed-Mart on Othello. When I started reloading I would buy my powder at the Big 5 on Convoy for 6.55 a pound and that was in 1974 or 75.

Hi,

I'm located in Del Mar.

I'm planning to acquire the Hornady LNP AP 110V if they release the .223 bullet feeder die this summer.
If not, I will roll with the Dillon 1050 with Mr Bulletfeeder.
After .223 I will start working with 7.62 and eventually .338 Lapua Mag.

Wow you have a pretty good memory! I'm 36 and just barely remember shopping at fedmart.
I got all I need to load that 30-06 but I have been to busy to get it started. I did manage to load 300 or so .223 with 3 different recipes and projectiles.

Default La Mesa

My name is Steve, and like another Steve, I'm in La Mesa. I've just acquired a Lee Deluxe Turret kit and some Sierra bullets and am waiting for delivery of some Bullseye and some SPPs from Powder Valley. I plan on starting with reloading .38 and 9mm, but figure on expanding to at least .380, .38 Super, .45 and .308. I'd like to thank all the folks that so generously give of their experience and insights, it's made a world of difference in my deciding to take the step to reload. If anyone in the area would like to get together to advise a newcomer, or, if a fellow newcomer, to encourage and assist each other, please let me know.

Darkbloom, lichador768:

I learned on a Lee turret, pumping out 9mm and 45ACP like there's no tomorrow. I'm in Ramona, but can easily swing by La Mesa on my way home from work, shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to work with you and help you set up your press and get you going.

I am in Rancho Penasquitos. I am just switching from a old RCBS single stage to a Lyman T-Mag turret. Over the years I have reloaded 6mm Rem, 7x57 mouser, 30-06 and 12Ga shotshells. Sold off most of the dies many years ago.
Presently I am reloading 7x579mm Luger and am setting up for 45 ACP. Still waiting on the 45 ACP dies as they are all on back order. I have 10

Another beach bum.. IB Kevin.

Just started loading but knew long ago I would, Loadmaster and gear for 308, 223 with 762 and 9mm on the way. And yes, the new reloads worked fine. Just put a nice piece of glass on the M1A.

A loading GTG sounds way cool. I did try to meet up with some local CGunners at the Poway 2ndA meet. Component wise, I'm at sub-beginner primer levels so a buy sounds like a great idea, just got a big box from PV so powder is good and it would be smart to get some 762 bullets/brass.

Cheers everyone.

Im Jeff and live in Lakeside.
I have a Hornadyl Ap progressive, a RCBS Rockchucker, and just bought a MEC 650.

I currently load 45and 9mm. Just collecting everything for some match grade .308 and some plinking .223. I shoot shotgun quite a bit so I will be making good use of my new MEC to make 12ga.

Hey guys. Cal in Spring Valley here. Just getting started with reloading. I bought the Lee Breech Lock Challenger kit and will be reloading 380, 9mm, and 223. Still waiting on 9mm dies and searching for components. Hoping Del Mar gun show has components. I've been processing my brass in the meantime.

So, this thread died back in March of 2013, looks like it is now reactivated.

Is there any interest still in a gathering at any point?

I'm in Oceanside and have only been reloading off and on for about 2 years. I do 38/357, .45ACP, .45 LC, and .45-70.

I would be up for a locals BLM shoot, meet and greet, BBQ thing. Maybe someone there could give me a few pointers on case prep/trimming for 5.56 and .30-06.

I'm in Santee. Would be down to go shoot or bbq.
I load. 223 and 30-06. Getting ready to start loading handgun calibers. Right now I'm using a Lee ss and a turret.
This is a good thread, I often think we (san Diego) should get a buy together to save on hazardous materials shipping and to get volume discounts.

Kickass clinic Germz. I Learned a lot there. I just loaded some 30-30, 223, 6.5 Creedmoor, 300 Win Mag and 338 Lapua Magnum. Going to rock the BLM house this weekend with some good target shooting and cigars, etc.

Upgraded to a Lee Turret since checking in last year. What a difference, going from single stage to turret.

Hi Kevin from Mira Mesa. Got into shooting about 2 years ago and reloading just right after. Started and learned on a LNL progressive press. Been hooked since and many thanks to fellow Calgunners for help and advice.
