Default Two areas near Corona Sportsman's Club in need.

There are two spots near the Sportman's Club in the hills south of Riverside that are just completely trashed. I was hoping we could get some people together and clean it up. I do what i can when i'm out 4x4'n but i only have a little Cherokee. There is a lot of large pieces of garbage out there and a ton of glass. Think anyone can help me out?

No one? That's a shame. These areas make responsible shooters look bad and drives land owners and the city to place further restrictions on us. PM me if you'd like to lend me a hand and maybe hit Steel Peak before or after. It's not far from the clean up site.

Keep at it man! Many people take some time to respond. If it doesnt work one week, try another. Hopefully there are some calgunners in the area and you get some help out there.

Also, some of us who would help, live too far away.

I used to be a member there and thought the areas around the range were not open for target shooting (not that it seemed to stop anyone if it was indeed illegal). I would be willing to help out depending on the weekend. I have a 4x4 F-150

Hey thanks for the replies guys. I understand people are busy or too far away. Or just unable to help. But after so many views i thought i'd get a maybe. Just me being hopeful.

As the legality of the area, i'm not 100% sure. There is BLM land very close to where people have been shooting. But the other spot i know isn't a legal area. Either way it looks bad for shooters in general. I hate picking up other peoples trash, i'm a firm believer in personal responsibility but stuff like this leads to more restrictions. Anyway, thanks again. I'll definitely keep at it.

With the exception of a small area over the hill, all land in the area is private. Shooting is not allowed. It is truly unfortunate that the few ruin it for the many. Within the last year, this place has been trashed and the neighbors have had it. Most of the neighbors are sympathetic to firearms owners and would probably let the shooting continue, if it weren't for the shooting trash, beer bottles along the road etc.

Corky43 I know exactly where you're talking about and i have friends who live very near by. I know they hate to see the trash scattered all over the hills. It really is a shame and when people start complaining to the city i can see there being a lot of people in some hot water if caught out there. Probably a lot of them unaware it's private property.

Is this the place by Lake Mathews? If so, I was just out there a couple weeks ago and it looks horrible. A Riverside Sheriff came out and told us that the neighbors were speaking with the county to come up with a ordinance closing the place down since it was so dirty. I took a truck full of trash home with me, but I wanted to put together a cleanup day as well. It's just embarrassing what shooters leave out there.

Let me know, I am in. I live in OC but I will come down.

Pm me with location/map and maybe I can get a group
To head up from San Diego. We do clean ups down here pretty often, and have been trying to venture further out to help our neighboring areas. Last one was out in ocotillo , and we took 2 truckloads of garbage out with us.

Has anyone from the club itself stated any interest in helping the clean up?

In an effort to move this along, I would like to throw out some dates to see what will work for everyone.

What about Saturday May 17th at 8am? This should allow about 3 hours for picking items up and then we can haul it to the El Sobrante Landfill off the 15.

We should also make a new thread with the announcement once a date is confirmed. I will volunteer if no one else wants to do it...

We need to get working on it before it gets too hot!!

I can help out, and can probably bring 3-4 people as well...just need a date. I don't have a truck though so I may need a lift whenever the road gets too rough. Have rakes, shovels, and bags too :0)
