Hey Calgunners! Thanks for the help, good wishes, and even the thread crappers who keep bumping this to the top. I really appreciate everything everyone has donated and done. This thread has taken long enough that I have now graduated and thank God I just passed my nursing state board exam. I am now a Registered Nurse!!!!! I hopefully will have a job in the next few weeks. I have received almost all the parts needed. I just need a buffer tube assembly. So I will be purchasing one and heading out to Chazbot's place next Monday to learn how to put the rifle together. I will therefore be donating the rifle much earlier than expected. So thank you everyone!!!
Nick I will post some pics after the rifle is all together and then we can all work on donating it to someone else. |

Better get that shooting in while you can, if what I've seen with my nurse friends holds true, you'll be short on down time.

i assume nrp is on the way to me to assembly. i'll photograph the donated parts prior to assembly and a separate photo of purchased parts, then the final assembly. i plan on doing some of the tricky bits myself with nrp observing, but otherwise i'll guide him and do a mini armorer's course on the AR.

lol no battery in my camera. NRP will photograph it. had to modify the vulcan lower significantly due to ill fitting with the very much in-spec upper and certain lower parts like the hammer. also had some leftover parts from an LPK. additionally the bullet button cannot fit in the vulcan lower at all and he'll have to use a radlock-x instead or something.
fyi: i do not recommend vulcan/hesse/blackthorne/velocity Last edited by chazbot; 06-23-2014 at 7:18 PM.. |

Completed AR
Wow Calguns! I'm so impressed by everyone's generosity. Below are a couple pictures of the finished project. Chazbot, thank you so much for taking a few hours to pass on your knowledge to me. Thank you to everyone that donated parts. Thank you to everyone that passed on good wishes. And thank you Calguns for being such an amazing community. We will be donating this rifle very soon. I'm going to make sure everything is shooting alright and then I'll pass it on. If you have posted earlier to donate ammo or magazine, thank you and I'll be getting a hold of you.
Thank you all so much, Nick |

Lets give this gun away.
Hey Calguns. Sorry it took so long to get back on. This new job is keeping me busy. You were right Ed_Hazard, I should've shot more while I could. So guys, ITS TIME. Lets donate this rifle. First off, do I give it away here or in the private for sale section? Lets try to give this rifle away to someone who wants a rifle but can't afford it yet. Poor college students like me will be given first priority. And medical or nursing students even more so. Lets get this given away. If anyone has ideas on rules let me know. PS-overall cost for me was about $80-100. That was dros and a couple small parts I paid for.

They at least should be a calguns member considering the donated parts came from here. How many rounds have been fired through it and what did you get for a front sight. Maybe post a video on YouTube like an accuracy test

to keep it fair and simple i say; -start a new thread for raffling off the rifle with a time limit (ex: 1 week) -everyone who wants in on the raffle is allowed 1 post/entry. -once time expires, lock thread -take each entry and put in a bowl -pick an entry out of bowl -entry you picked gets the rifle -winner has to pay DROS and should probably reimburse you for the money you have spent thus far cant think of anything simpler and more fair. its basic luck of the draw

^^ this ... I would say have a raffle for those who actually contributed instead of just randomly giving it away to any one

Hey NRP, How does it shoot?
Let's see some pictures please. Don't forget to take it apart before you give it away, that way the new owner can learn to build it from scratch.

NRP, I can handle the disassembly if you like, but it's essentially just the reverse of what I showed you. You may need some allen keys for the FSB you have and i like to use a 1/8" brass punch with rubber mallet for some pins here and there.

I think this should be donated/raffled to someone who doesn't have a rifle and can't afford to buy one. |

agreed; it's doing no one any good sitting in a closet gathering dust when it could be a teaching tool or an introductory rifle for a new shooter.
