Mind if I ask from where and what model? I just started researching these because I want to store 55 gallons in the garage.

Picked up a case of 9mm and will be taking it out of boxes and sealing it (to save space) this weekend.

Currently researching on either a Honda 1000eu or 2000eu generator as a portable backup. Already have a 3k gen-set and figure a small, super efficient, easy to carry backup unit would be good to own as well.

Felled some trees and set them up to dry for timber & firewood. Daddy needs to fix the bridge (need 40 4"×12"×12' timbers for bridge bed).

I have a 1000eu and it's a champ. Just check your max loads - more the 1000 is peak and it cannot sustain loads that high - 80% of rating for continuous loads is typical.

I spent about an hour fixing a Dollar-store flashlight that failed to work OOTB over a year ago...
(Not the best use of my time, but I felt productive. At least I didn't waste gas getting a new one when I just got back from the dollar store.)

All firearms now sighted in with notes on ballistics.
Never felt more secure.
When you take a gun out and "think" you know what's up with its characteristics you are wrong.
Practice makes sense.

Haven't posted in a while so here we go. Planted some trees, orange, lemon, plum and apricot. Added another 40 gals of water to my preps. Put new tubes and tires on my mountain bike. Bought a Stanley mess kit. Ordered some more .22lr, 12ga, 7.62x39, .45 and 9mm. Bought extra mags for all my guns. Put a P229 and a M1A Scout Squad in jail. Now I have to order some 7.62x51 ammo and mags for both of my new additions.

I've been running my Excalibur dehydrator 24 hours about 5 days a week. Pretty sure I'm close to a years supply of dried tomatoes (red & yellow), and zucchini/squash chips (with many different seasonings), I also have a fair amount of dried leeks, onions, Fresno chilies, parsley, oregano, & basil. Finally got caught up on the garden produce so today's project is 3 1/2 dozen eggs. This is my first time doing eggs, so I'm hoping they turn out edible.

I serviced my backup generator (40KW, big one) and had the underground propane tank topped off. It came with the house, so I figured I might as well get full potential, just in case.

Probably more of a bad storm thing than anything social fabric related.

Made some homemade fire starter kits yesterday for fun and camping.

Ordered bars of %99.99 magnesium off of eBay, ferro rods off Amazon, & hacksaw blades from Home Depot. Cut & measured the magnesium, a section of hacksaw blade, and drilled a hole in all three to allow a piece of parachord to go through. Tied them together and now have a useful makeshift firestarter that's a night and day difference from those Caughlin ones that go for $6 or so. I really can't see going through more than one section of magnesium for the rest of my life so will probably use the rest up as little Christmas gifts to my camping friends.

Bought some AA and AAA LSD NiMH batts, as I am jumping on this train again after not really using NiMH after some bad experiences with them failing to charge after <1 year.

Swapped (almost) all of my alkaline batteries in my emergency lights to NiMH LSD rechargeables. Only Fujitsu and Panasonic Eneloop batts, this time... we shall see how they do, and no more worry about leaking batts in my real expensive $2 LED aluminum flashlights for the kids? The Cree's have 18650's anyways...

Swapped all of my UPS batteries out with new ones(, if someone cuts power here, now, the screaming UPS's all over the house will wake EVERYONE up..).

I guess it's time to get some of these:

LOL, I learned that bloodroot is a good "mashdown with water" to make a mosquito repellent.

And I learned that instead of two drops of bleach per gallon for disinfecting clean looking and smelling water, that bad smelling water or really questionable can take up to 16 drops and after waiting 30 min if you smell bleach all good to drink, if not then repeat, if again no, then dump it.

And I learned that run-on sentences and poor spelling are totally cool in the apocolypse!

Be careful over chlorinating your water. If your normal chlorine dose is disappearing and you need 8 times that dose to seem normal, you're cooking up some funky stuff in there.

when chlorine residual dissappears quickly like that, it's because ng "used up" by disinfecting, or trying to disinfect something in the water. This process produces disinfection by-products that can be harmful to your health.

Of course, these are less harmful than dying of thirst, but I wouldn't drink it unless there was no alternative.
