Last week -- loaded 50 rounder #0 buckshot for my cousin since he wanted to practice more with his shotgun and he's somewhat financially strapped for cash.

This week and weekend - removed some expired topical antiseptic and old wound dressings in my home medical kit. Wrote down the different SW transmission I tuned in. Now at least I have a idea where to dial for a specific info.

Earlier in the week I bought a magpul single point sling and adapter for my AR. Bought an Zastava M70 and 1000 rounds of 7.62x39. Well I did that last week, ammo delivered yesterday. Today bought some ammo cans and 3 backpacks for BOBs today (one for me, one for the wife, one for my 9 year old son) in the process of purchasing stuff for the BOBs right now. We are in the process of moving so I figured now would be a good time to go through the duffel bag we were using as a BOB and break it up into smaller bags and use the duffel for a more severe/longer lasting survival scenario. This thread is actually distracting me from BOB research.

Oh man, if video games counts as prepping now then I am prepping for many hours a day! Yay!

On a more serious note, I was able to test my evac plan from work today.
My partner and I work in the same building but not near each other. We had preselected two rally points (somewhat close together) to meet in the event of a building evacuation.

So today at about 11:15 the fire alarm goes off. I assume it's a drill. But I jump up from my desk (on the 4th floor of a 4 story office building) and verify I have my keys in my pocket and rush to the staircase. I notice the floor wardens in their bright yellow vests are not there to usher people out of the building, that means this is not a drill.

I get outside and go to the designated meeting place. To my surprise that's the same area where EVERYONE from my building is being corralled. So my meeting spot is compromised. I get a text, my partner is about 100 feet away through a crowd of people and I'm short so I can't see over the crowd of tall guys.

So we met up and then took a walk and found two spots that make much better meeting locations and no one was being corralled nearby.

It was a good lesson learned.
BTW, the fire alarm went off because of a small kitchen fire and the building was only evacuated for about 20 minutes.

Converting all the small engines to a uniform parts kit, it's a PITA but one of the chainsaws went down over a fuel line failure in - a pinch, it's useless. Now everything will have only two sizes of fuel lines, one fuel filter, etc... with a ready supply on hand.

Drop by next week and pickup some more military fiberglass radio poles for some trellis work

I am in the military.. seeing that right now my more immediate and practical threat is a potential stop-pay with the upcoming federal budget battle (and probable delay in a continuing resolution), I beefed up our little emergency fund to cover a full month's worth of expenses. That way, if I don't get paid for a month, I can still put food on my family's table and not be too terribly phased by it.

I should have done this earlier, given that this is now a regular occurrence... but it is better late than never.

Actually 200 rolls is not massive for a family of 4. At .20 cents a roll we are looking at $10 per individual, about the same as (1) box of primers @ $40. And I have primers coming out my arse.

Right, I just mean I noticed my wife when she does the shopping can let it get down to only a couple rolls left. I want a cabinet full probably 500 rolls or more just as a stash for an eq/disaster scenario, much less TEOTWAWKI.

I'd start using pool water for my toilets. If the sewage backs up then I have a nice area on the side of the house that would be designated for a poopoo trench.

My bride just picked up 8 bottles of assorted antibiotics from CalVet supply. Arrived in the mail today. Penicillin, amoxicillin, cephalexin, ampicillin, clindamycin, and ciprofloxacin.

I hope I don't grow gills! :-)
