Default mosin nagant m44 $280 or 91/30 $300

Ok, so I wanted to get someones opinion. I have the option of buying a M44 for $280 for just the rifle. Its in good condition and numbers match according to the seller. My second option is a 91/30 with a mosin nagant scope kit from big 5 and 440 rounds of surplus russian steel core all for $300. this will be my first mosin. Are any of 6these prices fair. I do know mosin prices have gone up quite a bit. the M44 sems like a decent price for being good condition compared to current prices Have seen. The 91/30 also seems to be a fair price. Except that i did not choose the scope. Im sure its not a great scope, but if it were decent ill be ok with it. If its garbage then ill have to see if hell take less for the rifle and rounds. Scope is in brand new never opened package. I have seen them at big 5 and turners. Is anyone familiar with these mosin nagant scope kits? Also, the 91/30 seller wants to do a ffl transfer. So should i wait for better deals, or to see if i can grab a 91/30 from big 5 if they happen to get more. Seller does not know if numbers match on the 91/30. But i have been wanting a M44. shouldve got the $125 m59 from the pawn shop in december.

i personally think carbines are more fun to shoot. no need for that 2 meter long boom stick.

Go with the M44 its an ok price. The 91/30 is over priced. They go for around $120 for the rifle $70 for the scope kit and $80 + shipping for the ammo. But if you go with the 91/30 make sure you get the rear sight they took off so you can go with out the scope if you dont like it.

I have both. I prefer the M44. The side folding bayonet, short barrel, and compactness rules. It's a lot more fun to shoot if you like loud guns and big fireballs. The only time I would take a 91/30 is if it's fairly rare or a PU sniper. Else a basic 91/30 will never rule a M44!

Wow, I bought a bunch of M44s last year for prices ranging from $125.00 to $179.00, guess they were a good investment. My Big 5 91/30 was $99.00 and there are lots of Mosin owners here who laugh at my prices, they paid $69.00 for an M44 just a few years ago.

C&Rs are never getting any cheaper, if you want one, buy it now, shoot it and enjoy it while it is still legal in this state. If the antis and libtards in this state are successful, soon a Mosin will be one of the only guns that will be legal since they are going after all of the semis first. Then the ultra powerful and deadly accurate Russian weapons of war will be next.

Objectively, my Hungarian 1953 M44 is one of my all time favorite guns, definitely one of the most fun to shoot. You'll love it.

Brother, $280 is WAY too much. $180 is much closer to the mark. M44s are WAY more common and less desireable than, say, the M38 carbine, and I have never seen one of those for more than $200. That is panic pricing, and panic pricing for those....well...I'll be nice and just say "people" who are so deluded, as to think that a bolt action Mosin is on some sort of ban list.

And that M44 would have to be really nice to go for $180. I guarantee you this guy is going to make a real tidy profit at $280. That being said, to each his own. It's your money. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

$280 for a M44? That is much dinero. $300 for a 91/30 and a spam can is crazy.

$300 for the 91/30 w/el cheapo NCstar scope and mount and a spam can isn't horrible. A little much, but closer to the mark than the M44 deal. Keep in mind, for some crazy reason people have been buying up ALL the Mosins in sight (these people are NUTS!) My LGS is out of them, and they had been marked up to $179 for the 91/30s!
When NO ban on Mosins come through, prices will drop. Maybe not $99 for a 91/30, but definitely less than what you see these pirates on Armslist asking. Taking advantage of people who are ignorant of gun prices IMHO.

I don't think that there will be a ban on Mosins until the antis have taken or regulated out all of the semis, so that is looking like end of this year IF SB47 passes. THEN the legislating of these high powered Russian weapons of war will begin. And I agree, $280.00 for an M44 is stupid but that may be the market these days in California?

As someone that watches the market place daily these are current market values from what I have seen here on Calguns for the last couple months.
91/30 Round 160-180
91/30 Hex 200-250
M38 300+
M44 250-300
T53 200-250

Call it crazy if you want but that is what they are going for..
Gone are the days of the 80 buck Mosin.

Remember even if AIM or J&G recently had these for less (all gone now) that does not mean that these models have been available in the first hand market to people that do not have FFL03's in CA, that drives up the price.

The guy at the Vallego Gun Show said Oakland P.D.'s Buy-Back program is paying $200 for any gun, even if your milsurp Mosin is bent in half!

If true than the price for any MN starts at two bones now.

I will buy every mosin you have at your pricing. Please PM me a list. I am not joking. Please point me in the durection of sub $200 m38's.

PS, If the 91/30 described is a big five replica sniper With a $80 can of ammo, thats the deal. Its a screamin deal. Please if you pass LMK where it is, Ill buy it and give you the ammo as a finders fee. Opinions dont buy guns, CASH does!

Sold my 2 hex receiver 91-30s at Ventura show this weekend for $250 each. Both were sold in less than 2 hours.

Before all the hoopla begun to happen, I was at one of the gunshows in Vallejo last year and the 91/30's were going for about $139 and the hex ones were going for about $20 more. They were all in a crate.
I went last Sunday and no crowds, which was good. I saw some at a vendor on the table and the 91/30's were going for $280 and the M44's for $260 from him. I was told too, if you like a loud bang and a flame going out the muzzle then get the M44. I dont care for that personally. So I will look around for a good 91/30 at a decent price. I was told too, that the ammo is still pretty cheap.

I think (at least for now) the days of $99 91-30's and similar prices are over.

I bought a Polish M44 late last year for $235 and gun demand (along with the prices) have increased since then.

The Poles are aorund $500 at the shows now. If you are really lucky, you might find one around 400 to 450.

No, these prices were high before panic buying. Mosin carbines, save for chinese type 53s (which all look like they were left in the mud for a few decades), are nowhere to be found.

AIM surplus had a batch of m44s for about a day before they sold out, and those were at $180. Average price for an M44 right now is $250, M38 for $300. I haven't seen ANY M38s in stores for at least 4 years. I should've bought more at Big5 for $75 a decade ago, but hey, who knew? I should've bought $179 K31 pullbolts at big5 5 years ago. Now they're $300+

Now I know that every C&R will go up in value. If you think it's expensive now, it'll only be MORE expensive later. If anything, buy it as an investment.

If...if ARs and .223 ammo is supposed to decrease, then why wouldn't the price of Mosin Nagants decrease?

I have two $139 Big-Five Hex 91/30s. I wouldn't part with them for $250.

The Vallejo 9-10 February gun show sold-out of 7.62x54R spamcan ammo late Saturday or early Sunday morning. 9mm and 5.56 went ya-ha on Saturday. But they did bring pictures of primers.

Back to 'Ifs'...If our buddy stops the importation of spamcan surplus 7.62x54aarrr, then the popularity Mosin Nagants is dismal. That is just speculation.

i have both and i prefer the 91/30 repro. sniper.

I think the one the OP is being offered is one of the "factory reproduction" snipers.
