Default Roof Dual Band Ham Antenna Mounting Suggestions?

My google-fu has only turned up antenna recommendations. I have settle on the X50a. Now, how do I mount it?

Stucco front and rear. Tar and gravel roof.

I was thinking of just clamping a mast to a vent pipe. A stud finder would not work to mount a tripod. Any other ideas?

Any other considerations?
Grounding? We don't get much lightening in SF.
How do you protect the cable at the roof line?

Thanks in Advance.
