Exclamation FFL for AOW transfer ... SERBU SUPER SHOTTY

Hello everyone!

Called OC Armory today for a SERBU SUPER SHOTTY, but to my luck I was told that there is a current hold on AOW transfers due to new pending legislations soon to affect the single shot exemption ...
... not sure if I understood correctly, but supposedly it is affecting all FFLs right now(?)

Is there any FFL willing to transfer these AOW right now?
Will I ever get a chance to have one of these legendarily awesome AOWs?
I have one waiting in Texas, but I have no FFL to run to ...

Thanks in advance for all your inputs, replies, etc

it sounds like OC armory doesn't want to get stuck with an AOW if they can't get it processed before 1-1-2014, when any potential law restricting the SSE option would probably go into effect. It isn't that there is a legal hold on doing them, but more likely a company hold.

It can take a month or two (haven't kept up on Form 3 time frames) to get it transfered from your TX FFL to the CA FFL, and then 6+ months for the Form 4 to transfer it from the CA FFL to you. add that up and you are getting close to January. And if the Form 4 doesn't make it back to your CA FFL and you get in to start the DROS before such a law were to pass, then you wouldn't be able to get the AOW and the CA FFL would have to try to find someone out of state to take it.

You can try EBR Works in Newbury Park. Great outfit, though you may run into the same problem there. Like ke6guj said, you're looking at a 7 month wait for your Form 4 tax stamp from the CA FFL. Ask me how I know!...OK, since you asked, I'm in month 4 of a 7 month wait for my AOW.

I am up by Bakersfield. I can do it, but let's set up a non-refundable transfer fee so if the clock runs out, I get paid for the work it is going to take to send it back out of state. Something simple like $50 plus shipping.

Jack, I can't submit his Form 4 until I have it can I? Otherwise, since his TX guy has the gun, I will have all of the data to send it in and we can start the wait while the gun is doing its thing.

nope, you aren't supposed to submit the Form 4 until it has already been Form 3'd to you.

It might be possible that the Form 3 got approved before they started processing the Form 4, but I would not rely on that. There could be perjury issues submitting a Form 4 as the transferor when the AOW hasn't even been transfered to you on the Form 3 yet.

I'm kinda surprised that you don't have the right permits to do it yourself Wes.

... so pretty much my only slight chance of owning an AOW at this point in time, is if the AOW is already in the SoCal FFL's inventory.
Then the form 4 would take hopefully less than 8 months.

This is hopeless

EBR Team replied back and advised only if they have an 870 platform to work with, possibly they can produce their own super shotty that they can sell me.

I will never get to hold these in my hands ...

well, you could go and buy your own PG-only hostgun, Turners had 870 Cruisers advertised 2 weeks ago, might still have some, and file a Form 1 to make your own AOW. hope it comes back before 1-1-14. once it is approved, you can cut the barrel down <18" to legally make it an AOW and then see if Serbu or Safety Harbor will be willing to finish the mods.
