I took the CCW class Saturday at BassPro in Vegas, taught by http://tacticalwest.com

Class gets you the NV, FL, and UT permits. I posted a review here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...cticalwest.com

Took mine Saturday in Laughlin. Tactical west was the company. Class was from 9am to 8pm.

Keep in mind you will have to return to the same county to apply with the sheriff.
$125 class
$95 permit for 5 years.

The NV county you take the NV CCW course in, determines which NV Sheriff Department you apply to.

Each NV Sheriff Department has a list of NV CCW trainers that they accept.

In addition...
Some NV Sheriff Departments process the NV CFP application faster than others due to the amount of applications they process.
Examples...
Nye County (Pahrump) typically takes 2-4 weeks.
Clark County (Las Vegas) typically takes 14-18 weeks.

Did mine at American Shooters in Vegas, starts at 7:30 am $100, for extra $50 you can add Utah certification. Just be warned, the CCW wait is close to 4 months (120 days by statute) these days to receive your permit statewide. Nevadashooters.com has permit wait thread and even folks in Reno/non dense areas are waiting this long. This is due post obama election and sandy hook.

Okay so....
Frontsight.com will have to be no since I can't take that many days off.
Tacticalwest.com is possible but I have to go back to turn in paper work
Americanshooters.com is also possible but the same as above with returning later for paper work.

Anyone heard of armedandsafe.com? Their early morning schedule could really work out for a day trip. But anyone know their estimated time to get your permit?

You have to turn in the application where the gov't entity responsible for handling in any given county is open, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Have to get finger printed and picture taken. Once you take the class and get signed off by instructor, you have 1 year to turn in your application in person. As mentioned before, if you take CCW class in Vegas, have to turn in app in Vegas.

For Utah non-resident CCW, you mail it in with passport photos and fingerprint card. For Nevada CCW, there's no distinction between resident/non.

the estimated time to get your permit will be based on the county sheriff and the application load, Not the business you take the class from. Clark county is telling everyone 120 days. You could call the sheriff of that county and ask.

I took the class with them and it was great.
If you take the class on Wed. you can go down the road to the Sheriff's Dept. to turn your paper work and get finger printed the same say as the class.
Wed. is best, as all the Sheriff's handles that day is CCW. The other four days of the week they do finger printing for security for the Casinos, etc.
I was in the Sheriff's Dept. less than 15 minutes total.
You'll like the class. Good instructors.

Yes. It does make a difference. As Quiet noted, each sheriff runs their own program.

If you can spend four days in Nevada, then Frontsight is an option.
If, however, you are visiting Las Vegas, Clark County would work better, but you have to stay over to submit paperwork.
Reno has Armed and Safe with an early morning class which allows you to get to the Sheriff before they close. Here's what people say about Armed and Safe: http://www.armedandsafe.com/

Armed and Safe may be a good option if you are in Northern California, but it's a full day+ drive from San Diego.

If you're in Palm Springs, Vegas options seem easier.

So. Where are you?

JR
So, you see, where you are in California actually does matter.

Looks like Pahrump SO has the fastest, time 2 1/2 weeks, others on forum got theirs in 2 weeks. Some of the guys I was with at FrontSight turned in theirs in Vegas and Clark County and are still waiting and were told 120 day waiting time.

I'm in SoCal (IE) , but I meant location doesn't really matter since I'm willing to go the distance if I have to. Don't really have the funds for 4 days...

Edit: I should also mention I'm planning to go with 2 other friends if that makes a difference.

I also did mine at Front Sight. They had all the forms, fingerprint cards and photos for Utah, Florida and Nevada. Dropped off my Nevada application at the Pahrump Sheriff's office the same day and they mailed me my permit. Couldn't be any easier.

Did my NV Concealed Carry Permit class at Front Sight and if you can wrangle the time that is probably the best option. Most of the "one day" classes are really two day since you typically won't be done in time to turn-in the paperwork the day you take your class. Also, I would be quite surprised if many Sheriffs accepts applications on weekend days. I had a friend who did the CCW course at The Gun Store. He thought the instruction was so-so at best but he had no trouble getting the permit. I don't know about these days, but when he took the course it was free except for ammo and a range time fee.

when I was looking into it I called Tactical west and left a message. they returned my call same day.

Just an FYI,
Laughlin and Vegas are both policed by Las Vegas Metro. You can take the class in one and apply in the other. I turned in my app on 6-24 in Laughlin, in and out in 20 minutes. The tactical west instructor told us applying in Vegas can take several hours.

Default CCW class in NV

Went to Discount Firearms a few miles from the strip in Vegas. I would recommend their CCW class.

I used Wayne Crow. He is out of Douglas County NV. He is approved for that county only. Application is going to be turned in tomorrow. What can I say about his class.....
It was one-one direct straight to the point about Nevada's ccw. He is a stand-up guy. Military background. I did the course at his house, then we drove down the street to shoot with nothing but open space and a moutian as my background. He went over the basics but seeing that I already have a ccw in CA he expanded and was able to show me how to rapid fire two body and two head shots at two targets while moving. I end the range session by spliting a single poker card with one shot. I hit it 2/5 and split it twice down the thin edge. His motto "aim small miss small". This guy got my groups from a 4" diameter to a 2". Do I recommend him....Yeah.

Yeah, the guy that runs tactical west is more timely on phone that email. Good guy though, just not on email everyday. I submitted my forms back in early April and I'm still waiting.

If you are looking for NV CCW training for Clark County, I recommend Kurt Gepke.

He does private small group (1-4 people) classes and can conduct the class to fit your schedule (can be done any day of the week).

He is more knowledgeable on current NV laws/regulations than other Las Vegas based CCW trainers and does not spew FUD (which TheGunStore does on a regular basis).

Bonus for getting trained through him, he lets you fire off a few mags through his MG when you qualify.

Once you get your Nevada diploma, photo copy it. It is good for a year and will work to get a non resident Florida CCW. That gains you many states, only bummer is it won't get you CO.

well, I guess Tactical west doesn't respond to phone calls either... I called and left a message on the 9th, and still no word. So I need to find another place to go to.

Edit:
Thinking of either Discountfirearmsusa.com or Americanshooters.com?

Call my instructor in Las Vegas, Eric Kelley at (702) 525-5228 and he will take care of your NV CCW training needs. Cost is $100 for the class and the live fire.

Planning a NV Ccw myself now.

Did you confirm this info?

Looks like each county has their own approved instructor list that they maintain.

Does anyone have 1st hand experience with a Vegas Ccw class that gets you in and out and on time to apply at a nearby Sheriffs dept?

Trying to avoid having to stay another night.
