One of the first things you learn on field-training, always have two sets of keys. Funny/strange that another unit was not there with a set of keys.

According to one of the articles I read the training officer got out of the vehicle without taking the keys and it got locked.

You mean other than the fact that this was a multi-agency training day, for multi-casualty event's. Fire was already there as was AMR, and the FBI. APD has been all over social media saying that this was a planned training scenario, but the guy who shot the video says it sure didn't seem like a planned event. I can't for the life of me figure out why you need to lock someone in the back seat of a car to simulate someone locked in a car so fire can play with their toy's.

I thought they would be all keyed alike. At one time FD staff cars were keyed alike.

Amazing what makes the news these days. WTF, who hasn't locked their keys in a car at sometime?

AAA tow truck driver would have the trainee out of their in 10 seconds with his slim jim.

I am not questioning the fact that it happened. I am saying that it is either a practical joke / hazing, or a trainee that nutted up and panicked. Or maybe a combination of the two.

My van won’t let me hit the lock on the door as I’m getting out. They doors will only lock if they’re all closed all the way. I didn’t like that at first, but I lock the doors right when I start it, so I never drive off with a door partially closed. It also makes it impossible to lock your keys in the car.

That looks like operation human shield training. They do some of that at the FD I work at. No thanks, no vest without an accompanying rifle.
