Trinity *** TIME TO APPLY!!! ***
UPDATE (2015 Feb 05):
Due to Trinity's relatively high CCW issuance rate in CGF's 2013 statewide survey of counties' CCW issuance, the posts below and the conspicuous absence of any mention of a Good Cause requirement in the sheriff's instruction .pdf (quoted below), I'm upgrading Trinity to "Time to Apply!" If anyone gets denied a CCW by the sheriff due to insufficient or lack of GC, PM me ("Paladin"), and this OP may get revised. Quote:

1) Permissive 'may issue'. 2) Non-permissive 'may issue'. "Shall issue" is a unicorn in California no matter what county you go to. Trinity County is a permissive 'may issue' agency, that issues to ordinary people. While I havent reviewed all of their policies, I have heard nothing negative about the process.

I have had discussions with the Trinity Sheriff and he is pro gun and pro CCW. He's a good man and I was impressed by his professionalism. Basically he said "Don't write me a novel, just tell me you want to defend yourself and we're good to go" Word is he won't be running next election so get your hat in the ring for that CCW just in case the new Sheriff isn't as cool as Sheriff Haney.
