Outstanding on the 2 knives I have. Very precise and well executed.
More detail on the tan medium size one in this video. |

Are the bearings pretty tight or can you wiggle the blade side to side when properly adjusted? I like the knives. I know you can do a inexpensive bearing flipper like KVT's I have both Nuras and they are nice.

No play at all right out of the box. My large black one that I have carried for some time has been flipped hundreds of times and still no play. I haven't felt the need to use the supplied torx wrench. Testing of course with tension taken off the liner to allow the blade to run free.
I really don't know how they can produce a knife like this with so many features at such a reasonable price. |

The Kershaw Nura 3.0 and 3.5 ended up $28 and less, so it can be done... but I like the materials of that one and scales. I might have to try the Large one.
Yeah I usually like the blade to stay where I leave it and not flop around so I adjust my ZT's so they aren't likely to slice my thumb dropping on it. KVT's can be adjusted tight and still relatively friction-free. Nice when something that doesn't cost $220 can be smooth and well-fitted. Bearings seem to be the answer. |

Yeah flippers are nice if there is no WAVE feature. I LOVE wave, it is very easy to draw quickly, downside is that when you are pulling the knife out, it has a high probability of opening without you wanting it to.

Been messing with large tan all day...way way sharper than any Kershaw out the box, shaved like a champ.
One really neat feature is the attention to detail in the choiling on grip and blade. Light weight, smooth deploy, sturdy and without rattle. Good knife. |

Forgot about this thread. I ordered the same as you did and I agree with your review. The ball bearings are noticeably smooth, although I am not used to tip up carry for flippers. My Kershaw flippers all run tip down, so I have to think about it sometimes. My Benchmades are all tip up, but they're Axis systems so it feels natural. tip up is something I can deal with after training a bit.
Hardest to overcome is readjusting the pointer finger after deployment after flicking the blade open for defense. Answer? grip the scales with pointer and middle for stabbing or slicing. |

A breakdown on the steel but for a 30 dollar knife, pretty good says i. |

Day 2, have been cutting up cardboard to test the edge hold. Overall, again, great for $30 while outperforming Kershaw and similar at this price point. Once it gets dull, I'll resharpen it and see how long that holds.
The action is smooth, great lockup, the full flat grind option is great for slicing and the tip is crazy sharp. |

Digging the balance point right on the liner lock mech.
The whole thing weighs a couple ounces and the deep clip shows only the clip, no knife to be seen. Hopefully the bearings and action stand up to fowling and regular use. My last blade over the past year was the CS Spartan. Awesome for every day hard work, this one is more defensive and fine work. |

I have both size Talwars. Seems like the Spartan would be pretty good defensive blade deployed right out of the pocket. Maybe slower to close it.

Actually, I was a bit disappointed with how it deploys. Perhaps I've been spoiled by my Kershaw assisted opening knives, but I have to use a wrist flick in order to get mine to fully open. Either that, or I have to press quite hard on the flipper tab.

I found that mine really loosened up with use. I also used the supplied tool and gave the pivot screw the slightest turn and it really loosened up.
Also, see if the blade falls under its own weight with the lock depressed. If it does not then loosen the pivot screw if it does then the put a drop of oil or grease onto the detent ball to reduce the friction of it against the side of the blade. I do find that my large one swings open much quicker and easier due to the extra momentum of the bigger blade than my medium sized one. That's just physics though! Edit: Apparently Fenix (The light company) has exclusive distribution rights for Ruike knives. Looks like Ruike is a well known outdoor brand in China. It's still sharp after a week of breaking down boxes and general knifery. Good for $30.
Draw back: You're not going to have the same action after just one 2-hour trip to the beach or any sandy sit downs. |

I used mine while gardening cutting sprinkler pipes etc. and then putting the knife down on the dirt. As expected some soil got in and fouled up the bearings.
A strong spray of water into the pivot area followed by drying and a drop of oil restored the slippery action. For good measure I also slightly loosened the pivot screws to help flushing out the debris and then re-tightened after adding the drop of oil. |

Thanks crufflers!
Got my finger with it today, sharp as hell!!!! The action is back to smooth and the pocket clip is tough. I run into doorways all the time and this hasn't lead to a bent clip yet. Very nice low ride, you don't even see the scales. |

One other issue I had with the knife and read elsewhere. The gen 1 is tip down carry. I had the thumb stub catch on my pocket lip and open the blade which caused a cut pants pocket and slight blood loss. I used my dremel and cut off the thumb stud on the clip side of the blade. The stud on the other side is the screw on part. Since cutting the stud, which I dont use, the problem has not happened again. https://lapolicegear.com/lapg-kn-tbf...ing-s35vn.html It has gone up in price from 35 when I bought the first edition. Its now tip up carry. I will be buying the 2nd edition as this knife is that good. The Honey Badger has a great look to it. I dont need another knife but that wont stop me from buying a large of that folder. Thank you OP for sharing. Last edited by boludo12; 07-03-2018 at 8:43 AM.. |

I've seen the LAPG knives. I love many of their packs and gear bags - probably have a dozen. Do not love many of their LA PG branded items like gloves, most pants, etc... Low-end Chinese stuff. Have not tried the knives, but I am a huge ZT, Spyderco fan even some Benchmades like the Contego and Presidio... LAPG knives probably can't compete fit and finish even if they are S35VN. |
