Default DROS Start time

I heard that Turners will no longer being starting the DROS until the gun is physically in the store, is this correct? It used to be they could start it as long as they had the serial number of the gun, it could be physically in the warehouse or at another Turners store. What gives? Isn't this going to make the 10 day waiting period even longer?

Please tell me I'm wrong.

I don't know that any dealers do this anymore. It used to be a thing, but I think something happened that makes it a no-go now.

Each store might have its own policy or this just went into effect days ago. I went in to the Norwalk Turners last week looking for a Sig Extreme and asked if they price-matched RifleGear? They actually had it cheaper (monthly flyer deal), but had none in stock. The guy behind the counter checked online and found one at another store, called and verified serial number, told them to transfer it to Norwalk store right away, and started the DROS process. I pick up in a couple of days.

I was at the Lake Forest store the day after they implemented this policy. The manager told me that they are now following a policy (not law) dictated to them by the CA DOJ. The DOJ wants the firearm in hand at the store before they run the DROS.

I know they were doing a "soft" DROS for someone while I was there. They had the firearm in the warehouse and were collecting all the info so that when it arrived in store they could immediately run the DROS.
