Default question about transporting long gun

i talked to a ffl about transporting a rifle or shotgun in a car. he said i can place my long gun any where i want in the car. the only thing i have to do is to keep the gun unloaded. i dont have to put it in the case or bag, i dont have to lock it.
is this true? cuz i checked youtube about transporting a long gun. somebody said , the gun has to be in a rifle case or bag, then it does not need lock.
can some pro help me about this q? btw i am not a native english speaker, so sorry about my grammar.!

In the vehicle it can be carried openly or cased, even hidden from view, as long as it is unloaded. The dealer is right on that. BUT,
Carrying from your home to the vehicle in the city it must be in a case. If it is in a "gun case" it doesn't have to be locked. If it is in any other type of case, like a guitar case, it must be locked.
Also, within 1000 ft of a school zone; it must be in a locked case, either way.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
