Default Is it worth it?

Hello all:

Im in front of a fork in the road here. I recently purchased a brand new Henry 45-70 NIB but now I have an opportunity to sell it & use the money as a down payment on a S&W Model 29 6" barrel commerative edition. I plan on learning how to hog hunt & hike this year. My main hunting rifle will be a Browning 30-06.
I love the Henry 45-70 but is it with selling for the 29?
Thank you.

In my opinion, yes. I love the 6 inch model 29. It's a fantastic firearm and you already know you're going to use the 30-06.

I really like the Henry but I also like the Model 29 but I can't have them both - family comes 1st.

One thing is it depends one where you hunt. I use a 45-70 for pigs but I am also in lead-free country. If you are in lead-free territory for hunting and don't reload then getting factory 45-70 lead free ammo is not cheap and almost impossible to find. 30-06 there are a few companies now making factory lead free.

I do love my 45-70 but lead free does make it complicated. So if you are planning to hunt in lead free zone then it may be better to dump the 45-70 and get the 29.

@jm13690: That is a good point I never considered. My buddy told me the hunting spots are near home, I live in the Los Banos area.
