Default 10/22 design contest FYI

For those of who can't leave a 10/22 stock this might be for you. Ruger announces a design contest to celebrate the 50th anniversey of the 10/22.

check out the terms at Ruger's website.

Looks like the contest is for the next ruger 10/22 design. Not for how people customized their rifles?
Someone design one with a receiver ready for easy barrel swaps and something optics ready/tech sight ready. A Ruger 10/22 Plug & Play model I would definitely buy in a heartbeat.

They need an "Appleseed" variant. Something with tech sights or a good military style rear aperture with military style front post. And no annoying folding rear sight in barrel. An no barrel band.

Everyone it seems does the bull barrel and scope with fancy shmancy stock. They should go the other direction and call it the 10/22 "rifleman". In this age of tactical everything how about we go back to fundamentals

That would be ideal, but in the age of Call of Duty, the next generation wants to shoot cool stuff, not their grandfathers 10/22. Like Defcon I have done a couple of bullpup conversions. Everyone that shoots them thinks they are the funnest guns they have ever shot, even my 83 year old father who was an avid hunter.

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the contest.

^^^ This. They should make an Appleseed LTR model. Its everything you need to shoot a 10/22.

50th anniversary is the golden anniversary. Maybe the winner will get his/her 10/22 made with gold.

Dang...even inside the fins. How long did that take and how do you keep it from oxidizing?

^ It all started innocently enough with stripping a receiver for refinishing.
Trying to get all the paint off resulted in some polished looking areas so I kept going.
Hours and hours of polishing later the project was clearly out of control, there was no choice but to continue and polish everything.
The barrel is stainless steel, made by Tactical Innovations...an excellent product!
The aluminum parts are still bare...no oxidation seen yet. : ))
Maybe I'll clear coat it someday.
