Start Livescan BEFORE Sac Sheriff's Approval for CCW?
Will DOJ allow me to start the Livescan process before I get the Sheriff's Letter of Approval?
I feel certain that the Sac Sheriff's office will approve my CCW application. It seems that if I start up the Livescan process now, it would speed up the process. Is this possible? Would it really speed up the process to run both approvals in parallel?

From my understanding Sac County only accepts Live Scans from certain places, and they require their format/paperwork. This is what I've come to understand from talking to multiple people not necessarily straight from the horses mouth, as I was looking into doing the same thing myself.

No. Sac County needs to generate the Live Scan request, then you must visit one of the SO Live Scan locations. You can't start a scan with out the paperwork, and they would not accept it if you could.

Patience (you're going to need it.)
The SO generates the authorization for LiveScan and identifies the reporting agency. They will send you the paperwork after interview and approval of Good Cause. Since the LiveScan is done at Sheriff Office facilities, you'll need the paper to get them to do the work. You will need the patience for the rest. Cheers. JR. |
