Alright Sacramento county CCW holders, now that I have my permit, I have one question - where do you put this thing? It's huge! It won't fit nicely in my wallet...

...This often comes up, and has often been resolved.

mine hangs out the top of my wallet by about 1/8 an inch. Its all frayed at one end. Figure I get a new one every two years and this one is laminated.

This wallet works - it is a bit wider, but carries just about everything.

These have proven popular.

But won't be helpful if you are leaning to the necklace bling:

(Please don't do either of the above. Thanks.)

Agree. Using either of the above would most likely get you locked up for impersonating an officer because a reasonable person could see the badge and believe you represent a police agency. Just my two cents worth.

Impersonation of a cop isn't the problem...using these badges identifes you as a dork.
(This often comes up with the wallet issue --now we will await the posting of the "CCW Sash". {It's always bothered me that the sash never comes with a tiara.})

Big time! But there are those out there that still haven't realized that point. Wannabee's. CCW is no trivial matter. Some young'ins need to learn it. Really shouldn't be one if they don't. JMHO.

Does anyone know if they are doing mods yet? Wanted to add a new addition but unsure if it was a waste of money

https://www.shinola.com/passport-holder.html fits perfectly...plenty of less expensive similar sized options.

No folding of the permit, never had a problem with it fitting in a back pocket, lays very flat

You will probably be able to pick it up on Tuesday next week as they only do renewals on Tuesday and Thursday. Unless, the get to it today.

It took 14.5 hours from the time I uploaded my documentation until I walked out of the Sheriff's office with my renewed license. If I had known it would be that fast, I would have waited and not lost a month and a half of CCW time.

Where can I go for info on renewal? Mine expires in July? When should I start renewal process? Nothing has changed in last two years as far as me.

Go back two pages in this thread and read the posts.

Go to the Sheriff's CCW website and read the instructions.

A Question regarding my 3 handguns for Sac CCW initial permit. Way back in June, when I first submitted my application, I listed a set of 3 handguns. At long last, I finally got approval to do the Livescan and the 16 hr class. Now I'm wondering if I can switch one of the 3 guns since I'm having second thoughts about my originally chosen 3. Anybody know if it's too late to change? Do I need to stick with the original 3 that I listed for the qualification, no matter what, or could I switch one of them out now? Not a super big deal, but just having second thoughts about one of them, as the result of a new acquisition. That's one of the problem with having too many guns
thanks

The guns you shoot in your class, and for which you submit the paperwork, are the ones that will be on your permit. It isn't locked in until that point.

Awesome. Thanks gents. In that case I’ll go shield, g19 and g 20-21.
G19 instead of m&p9.

What 3 guns do y’all have on your permits?

What did you mean by “G20-21” as your third?

Mine are: Kimber 1911 45 Ultra Covert, G23, and S&W M19 3” 38/357. My renewal class is in 1 week (lic exp 2/8), so I’m replacing the S&W M19 with either a S&W 442 airweight or an M&P Shield 40 - can’t decide.. !

G20 frame with G20 and G21 slides. Sacto allows multiple calibers on the same gun.

Going light/subcompact (airweight/shiled) sounds good!

Some people decide on their carry guns based on size and multiple factors of being concealed.

For example, if you're wearing fitted clothing, you might need a sub compact. If you're wearing a loose-fitting shirt, maybe a compact. A suit jacket - you might get something larger - you get the gist.

I know someone who has the following: LC9, P239, P229 - just to fit the instances listed above.

Oh - that’s great news, I was wondering how they view conversion calibers on same gun. I recently purchased a 9mm conversion barrel & 2 mags for the Shield 40. Do the multiple calibers count as a two guns, or do they list under same gun (ex. “S&W Shield - 9/40”)? I assume you must qualify with both calibers in the renewal class? Thanks..

Not me personally, I went with Cordova Shooting Center on my initial CCW, so I went with them again for the renewal. They also seem to be one of the least expensive out of the classes I was looking at online, and offer evening classes on Wednesday’s 5:30-9:30 - $99 for class, $10 for additional carry gun and only 30 rounds per gun vs 50.

I did go to CSTA (Steve Caballero founded - now called/moved to SAFTA) for my armed guard, baton, pepper spray, taser & handcuffing certifications. They were very good, ranked best in state and highly respected among law enforcement agencies.

I did initial CCW quals with the predecessor group, CSTA, founded by Steve Caballero to license the slingshot David used on Goliath.

Steve's still around, but the focus is on guard/security training.

I renewed with SAFTA, and had Steve as an instructor. He's still sharp, but not always solid on newly-passed CCW statutes.

Prices for SAFTA CCW have gone up, now approximating Cordova's. (~$200 for initial training at each).

SAFTA shoots the BSIS course of fire so the guard candidates can qualify. SAFTA uses indoor ranges in the community.

Re: Cordova. The range is outdoors. Look out the window, take that into consideration.

(Note: neither course is firearms/combat training. You won't be spending the day "shootin' and scootin". Static targets with single set distance at Cordova and adjustable distance at SAFTA.)

You probably already know but a Glock 20 frame with 20 and 21 slides can give you 11 different calibers using Lone Wolf conversion barrels. Some also require different guide rod springs and mags.

No fee for additional guns. The class is $99 if you qualify one to five hand guns. 30 rounds per gun to qualify,

The re-qualification shoot consists of two 10 round magazines (total 20 rounds) untimed fire at 15 yards. Then you have ten rounds of timed fire at 15 yards. Five rounds, reload, and five rounds again all in 45 seconds (pretty simple).

You do one gun after the other. I just did mine there last Wednesday night. Easiest qualification I have ever had.

Humm, that’s a trip - I called Sac Sheriff last week after reserving my spot with CSC to ask about the gun limit, and they said three total, unchanged. My buddy, who didn’t go through CSC, but re-qualified in December (also Sac County) said the gun limit was 3. Only reason I asked was because I read a thread on here that Orange County no longer has a limit to the number of guns you can put on your CCW permit.

When I registered on Cordovas website last week for the recert it said three guns total, $10 for each gun over the first, bring (or buy at their shop) 30 rounds for each gun.

Today I called CSC to speak to live person (after seeing your reply), and they said Sac County still only allows 3, and there’s NO additional fee for the two additional guns (other than buying the ammo), and they didn’t know about the multiple calibers/slides on same frame-suggested I call the Sheriff office to confirm, or wait till day of class to ask instructor. *face palm*

A lot has changed in two years - and I’m thoroughly confused now since you say you just went through this training last week at CSC! I want 5 on mine! More the merrier..

Also, description of the re-qualify shoot totals 40 rounds per, if my math is correct?
