The Ventura Reloading Club team would like to thank Spanky8601 for his generous donation of an RCBS Press and for the powder and primers he donated to our club, we will put it to good use with our students.

Thank you!

Hi guys. I'm a noob to CalGuns and interested in checking out reloading for handguns (.40 and .45 at this point). As I told Capy in an email, I will not be able to attend the upcoming training. (got work that weekend! yeah.). He suggested I ask here - Is there anyone out there who would allow me to observe them run a batch through. I've been watching a lot of reloaders on Youtube, both single stage and progressives. Looks very interesting. As work is sporadic, I am available a lot during the week.

Thanks

Chevy95, perhaps posting where you live would be helpful to those considering letting you observe them reloading? Good luck and if nobody steps up, we will be attempting to hold clinics monthly this year, although it remains to seen if we will have enough instructors available to do so. Maybe you can make the March clinic?

I've decided to take the whole day off, and would like to hang out too. Call me an observer/helper, at least for an hour or two. Can't stay for lunch, but would like to say hi.

This is going to be a big one with the most students and most instructors we've ever had. If you have not received the information and details for this Sunday's clinic and you are on the signup list (Post 166 on page 5), PM me asap.

One of our goals with our reloading club is to continually buy and borrow the newest reloading gear for you to check out and try at our clinics. While we usually don't have enough time to set up progressive presses, we are encouraging those who own them and can easily unbolt them from their benches to bring their progressive presses, just so you can see exactly how a Hornady LnL or a Dillon 550 functions in person.

For those of you joining us for Sunday's clinic, we will have eight brand new presses for you to load on, you will be the first users of our new presses (Along with the LA/OC chapters' table of presses as well)

Big Bronco will also be bringing the new Lyman Hand Primer tool he picked up at the SHOT show that you can try out.

I will be bringing my new Lyman Case Prep Xpress for you to prep your rifle brass on.

Let us know if there are other new reloading tools or accessories you are interested in seeing at our clinics, we are working on establishing relationships with the major reloading gear manufacturers and we can ask them to loan us or demo new gear for our students at the clinics but we need to know what you want to try, so let us know.

I picked up the Lee Quick Trim Deluxe with the dies for .223, and .308, and that will be there to help with getting through some of the rifle prep. I will also bring my Hornady prep trio for some people to use as well.

If I have the time, I will bring my Hornady LNL AP as well, but no promises.

i won't be able to attend due to that pesky job thing getting in the way. if the club wants, and someone wants to meet me beforehand, i have gear that i don't mind letting people use. it seems like you guys can use all you can get your hands on for this class, sucks i have to miss it. i can let you guys borrow my rcbs chargemaster and forster co-ax, if you want either. i also have a lee hand primer with .308 holder and some calipers, if you need to borrow smaller things like that. is anyone reloading for garand this time?

Hi flyingmunkey:

That's too bad, working on a Sunday is no fun. Thank you for your kind offer of gear but I think we are okay between the VC Club and the LA/OC Club's gear. We are definitely okay on presses. We do have one Garand loader, but I think we have him covered as far as components.

Maybe next time?

Well...don't laugh, k?

#1 would be 45 colt.
#2 would be 45 ACP

I have Garands and a 91/30 but those are more difficult to reload is my understanding. So I would prefer to start with pistol calibers. I also have a 9 and 40 but the 45 colt is my favorite caliber.

I have once-fired brass for both, but alas, no powder (nor primers nor projectiles).

I would dearly love to make the Camarillo session, but I have to stay close to home for now.

No problem Sam, I wasn't understanding. If you want to be notified, check back with this thread or subscribe to our Facebook and Twitter, the links are below in my signature. Both are updated at the same time as this thread and we will have website up soon. We don't have an email list yet.

The next clinic will be in April. We want to move to monthly reloading clinics but we don't have enough instructors and resources lined up yet. We are working on it and that is goal for 2014, by the end of the year, we hope to be holding monthly reloading clinics, shotshell reloading, brass prep workshops, precision ammo reloading and many other events that will all be centered around bringing shooters into the reloading fold.

See you in April.

A request for all participants of the VC Reloading Clinic, Sunday, February 2.

We are readying the super secret reloading clinic location and yes, this clinic is shaping up to be one to remember. We have a request from the VC Reloading Club Instructors.

PLEASE bring a pair of shooting glasses/safety goggles.
PLEASE bring a folding chair/camping/chair/lawn chair

We are going to become a bit more safety conscious moving forward and we don't have enough safety glasses for every reloader and instructor so please bring your own. And we don't have enough chairs for all of the students and instructors so please bring a chair.

We are looking forward to reloading with you!

Awesome clinic Dan, Peter, and everyone else! Thanks for putting it on.

I need to come to the next one to learn how to do pistols calibers so I can use my grandfather's old Lyman 310 Turret set-up.

I would like to thank all the helpers and instuctors that took time out of their day to help make this clinic happen. I would also like to thank all of the students and observers. If any of the students or observers have any questions, or run into a snag, please feel free to PM one of the instructors, and we would be happy to try to help work you through it.

I would also like to thank our host. Without Blitzburgh, we would not have the facility to hold these clinics, and for that, I would like to say thanks.

Just wanted to say a few words of encouragement for Capybara, jj805 and Stardunk...

Keep up the good work guys. The club is growing and becoming more than I ever envisioned it could be and certainly more than I could make it... It was great to see the sheer number of people there on Sunday morning to participate, learn and lend aid/teach.

I wish you all the best of luck, especially the new reloaders who, without the club, would never consider making the jump into reloading.

Our clinic yesterday was very successful. I would especially like to than all of the instructors, some of whom drove in as far as from three hours away to help instruct our students.

As always, we wouldn't be able to put these on without our regular instructors, Big Bronco, CSA Cannoneer, Tujungatoes, Bumslie, PucksNGuns, JJ805. Special thanks as always to Blitzburgh for graciously letting us use the VC Reloading Super Secret HQ and Stardunk for handling sign ups, paperwork, donations and for single handidly cooking us lunch, the bacon cheeseburgers, as per VC Reloading Club tradition, were delicious.

This was a clinic of firsts...

1. First time we have had 13 students
2. First time we have had 7 instructors
3. First time we have had a female student
4. First time we have had a couple as students
5. First time we have had a couple as observers
6. First time we have had a female observer

We had an exceptionally nice group of students with varying levels of experience and knowledge. Many people handed us quite large bags of brass and some even donated some reloading tools and accessories, thank you to all who did.

On to the pictures.

With this many people and this many presses, space was tight but it all worked out well.

Big Bronco instructs, notice the ultra cool new instructor polo?

Keep up the good work guys. The club is growing and becoming more than I ever envisioned it could be and certainly more than I could make it... It was great to see the sheer number of people there on Sunday morning to participate, learn and lend aid/teach.

I wish you all the best of luck, especially the new reloaders who, without the club, would never consider making the jump into reloading.

Thanks Tactical. We hope that everyone will always remember that well before me, JJ805 and Stardunk were involved, Tactical Plinker single handidly put on the first VC Reloading Club Clinic, basically by himself with help from Blitzburgh. Tactical, without you making it happen, we would not have a club today, so thanks to you.

That is our goal, to keep on increasing the number of reloaders in California. The more people who reload, the more people become aware of how precious our Second Amendment rights are. You can't be casually involved in reloading, you either do it hardcore or you don't reload. Our hope is that the students we teach will eventually teach reloading to someone else and we can increase the number of gun owner/2A activists in this state.

Tactical, I just want to say thanks. Without you sticking your neck out to get the first VC clinic going, none of this would have happened.

Nice pictures Capybara!

This was a great class, It is cool to see a couple of hours turn a room full of strangers into a group of friends.

Thanks for making that long drive chknlyps2. You are a talented instructor, patient, thorough and our clinic was that much stronger having you as part of our team. Received rave reviews all day from the students, the PMs and Facebook reviews are pouring in. Hope you can continue to join us for upcoming clinics, you were a pleasure to work with.

Well I for one would like to thank everyone involved. From the students to the volunteer instructors that were all there to help out. With out you guys, I might have had to watch the Superbowl. Just kidding.

Personally there is no were I would rather have been yesterday. I wish you all knew just what a great pleasure it is to work with you all and see just how devoted the Ventura group is. My hat is off to all of you.

Until next time.
