id say if your on the list for one, wait it out. otherwise it might be even longer before you can find one.

Last contact I had with Turner's said they would be in sometime in April. Don't know if that is still true though.

IMO, I don't think you will see one until at least summer. Too much backlog and other states taking CA legal guns to fill their own orders.

Me too. I am on a wait list in NorCal. The FFL said other out-of-state FFLs are taking some of the CA Shields when they run out of regular Shields to sell. In fact, I am also on a wait list for a CA legal Shield at an out of state FFL. Silly isn't it.

For sure...kinda thinking s&w is also just waiting to see what happens to CA once the political dust settles but either way us regular Californians just "suffer" as usual. I know if I had a crate of these suckers I could get $699 all week long!

So now I see Riflegear has the 9mm Shield now in stock but at a whopping +$200 increase to $599 as opposed to Turners $399 pre-sale price.

http://www.riflegear.com/c-150-smith-wesson.aspx

Does this mean that Turners also has their stock of Shields in as well?! I gave up my spot in the hope that their order Glock 19 come in first... I have not heard on that as well!!!

I just called rifle gear last weekend and they were kinda hinting at me they might arrive soon...but he said these are not CA compliant models..so they likely had to pay at least 400 at cost...if that's the case, no turners anytime sooonnnnn

Hmmm...If that is the case then that particular M&P shield pistol RifleGear is selling is off the CA roster of approved pistols and needs to be made into a Single Shot Exempted pistol?

On their website they do not have that option so I thought it was the CA compliant model they were selling?!

(-Correction...I see the fine print that says it's not CA compliant ..ahhh.)

um, no, not serious. "two weeks" is the running joke around here; its the standard answer to any question about when something in high demand and low supply will become available.

I have been hearing the 30-60 day thing...first time i heard the 2 week joke for dummies...oh well I give up but think pending legislation is the major factor not just high demand factors in the obviously overdue arrival of this pistol!!!!!

Well I just received the 2013 Turner's Spring Flyer in my mailbox today and lo and behold on the second to the last page on the flyer, specifically on page 31. The M&P Shield is shown as advertised for $419.98.

Now, if they are not expected anytime soon, why in the world would the the Turners head office approve them to be part of the 2013 Spring flyer?!

I'm a bit bummed about this as I simply gave up my reserve spot to get a M&P 9mm compact instead of waiting for the 9mm Shield ...

I have asked about 20 socal retailers and they all have said that they have no clue when they will come in. They have been promised to them a few times but never came in so have nothing to base the delivery time on.

I would not think anytime soon with everything behind.

such a great gun. Shot a buddies in FL. Quality just like the full size. Cant wait for CA to get them

Friend of mine just got the Turner's Spring catalog and it lists Shields for sale. Which means another collection of countless threads about non-existent Shield sightings in California.

My point should've been, that you will most likely not find any holy grail of information on CalGuns nor by asking anyone in retail. The reason is no one knows and S&W isn't talking. That's all.

FYI, S&W updated their web site to read "Fall 2013" for the CA Shield.

Just came back from Turner's in Torrance. The m&p shield that is in the spring flyer will not be available at all. They said you can put a deposit on one(just like every other gun) & this is probably your best bet to get it when it really comes out.

Just got back from Tuner's in Fountain Valley. They do not have any S&W M&P Shield in stock. I talked to the manager and he did not know why it is in the Spring flyer. He said they should be receiving a shipment Summer (around July). You can put a deposit down (30%) and they will notify you when it comes in.

some people have no sense of humor I'm heading to the range to shoot my Shield now. I really want you guys to get your Shields asap, its a neat gun, and so far I love mine. Be wary of these so called "wait-lists". I've seen too many dealers sell a gun to somebody standing in front of them with cash, while the wait list of 20 people goes unserviced.

S&W's CA Shield web page 'estimated availability' has gone from Fall 2012 to Dec 2012 to Jan 2013 to Spring 2013 and today is FALL 2013.

Someday I'll see one on the shelf and will consider it again. Until then I'm not going to even think about it.

^^^^^ I agree. I've stopped waiting. It will come eventually, but it's clear S&W does not know when.

Have to say that was pretty bold of Turner's. Of course, hundreds will flock to the stores and in a month they'll be sitting on another pile of cash deposits.
