Have they removed the entire wall? Perhaps the body is in there, too.

The problem I see is this. If someone goes through the trouble of hiding something in a wall, chances are it may be evidence... could there be prints on it?

Turns out it was a caulking gun, tossed in the crevice by a lazy day laborer on the last day of the remodel job.

Sorry for the delay. Bit of an anticlimax but still a win for all intents and purposes. Reality was a Marlin model 336 lever action in 30-30 caliber.

This is poor as it's not the Lewis gun, Vickers or Gas trap Garand, but a definite plus as it seems to be in surprisingly good condition. In a fun sock and there is no evident rust at all.

Can't see a serial number immediately but will check again tomorrow and post pics.

That's actually great. Something perfectly legal without any feeling you need to avoid using it due to rarity so you can enjoy it.

I will second the idea that there is a chance it was hidden as it was crime adjacent however.

So, we moved into this house 19 years ago, built in the 50's with an add on 25 years ago. As it turns out, the person that did the add on is related somehow.
The guy told me his friend that helped was depressed one day so he took his handgun away from him and put it in the add on attic up against the outside wall under the fiber glass. I was stoked. I went home, got a ladder and went through the 2x2 ft covered cutout. I started going to the wall, the lowest part of the pitch is about a foot high. Fiberglass insulation everywhere you kneel, or touch. I decided to wait. I guess it is still there, lol.
