**Walmart Tula Spam Cans .223 500rds $119 and 7.62x39 640rds $167
***Since a lot of people are bumping this thread with inventory updates, I have updated the thread's title to make it easier to find
I check out walmart every once in awhile and seen lots of Tula spam cans sitting in the shelves the past week, so bit the bullet and bought one. Comes with a can opener. $119 before taxes. Available in Folsom and Orangevale. Based on confirmed prices from others, 7.62x39 is $167 for 640rd can My plinking AR loves eating Tula and it's economical for me to shoot. YMMV

I scored two this morning and my buddy scored 3 hours after mine. Due to the size of the locked glass cabinet, they only have 2-3 boxes. You have to ask for more from the back storage cage.

Yeah that's mine. I find it hard to believe they keep it in the back. Folsom doesn't even keep theirs in the locked cabinet, it sits on the open shelf with the shotgun ammo. I got this one at Orangevale

That is .223 right? Do they have 7.62x39 spam cans?
Has anyone seen those spam cans in the So Cal?

I shot at least 1200 rds of this stuff with my non brand budget build. Barrel is a 5.56 1/9 CMV. And also rapid fire the hell out of my plinker with this ammo. But that's just my experience. Some people scared to buy it, more availability for me!

Yeah they have that too, I didn't take a picture. If I remember the price it's $130ish for 640 rds

That's a very good deal on the 762x39.
$167/32 boxes of 20ea = $5.21 each box before tax. Doesn't each 20rd box cost around $5.47 before tax at wallys world?

I believe it was $5.17 per 20 before taxes. The tula .223 is a much better deal at $.23c/pr before taxes. I wish this stuff was down here a little more. I don't think I've shot much tula steel, more zinc plated steel and had no problems with that but the one time I remember shooting tula steel, the case wouldn't eject for the first round and the second round the bolt carrier got stuck in with the case. Good thing range masters had a ram rod for me. I was shooting it out of a 10.3" DD mk18 upper. I would still buy a spam can if I could because I have other uppers to try out.

My local Walmart in Santa Clarita has has these as well. There is a D bag in the ammo for sale forum who was selling the .223 for $290 then dropped the price to $280 even though he claimed he had huge demand for them. I sent him a friendly pm because I thought he might have just priced it wrong.
Apparently he thought the sealed can and purchasing from him was a premium you would pay an extra $150 for. |

For a local purchase the Walmart price for the x39 is gonna be the best deal. BUT, you can usually find WOLF for around $240-250 per 1K shipped (no tax) online. So if you are buying in bulk it's better to buy online.

Hey guys. i bought the 7.62 for a friend of mine, and he has not came up with any money yet. If he does not come up with any money by sunday night, yall can have it for what it cost me with tax, plus shipping from west TN. I will post pictures of the reciept so you know that i am not making any money off of you.
I think tax is 9.75% in tennessee. Last edited by mattadams6552; 04-15-2014 at 5:04 PM.. |

That's the same guy I was talking about. He started at $290 then $280 now $260 I'm quite surprised he is doing that with all of the interest he said he had. This is a quote of his pm back to me "I recommend you purchase them all, if you can afford them that is. Thank you for your unnecessary message and FYI people in my area ARE highly interested." Also they attract a magnet, so most ranges it's a no go. |

I took 3 Tula cans to Hodge and shot 6 ARs I hadn't shot in a while. 2 of them ended up with cases stuck in the chamber after a couple of rounds. Barrels weren't even remotely hot. One was a POF and one was a BRO. The bolt slipped right off the case head and the cases had to be knocked out with a rod when I got home. I'm sure many have run 1000's of rounds w/o issue, but IMO it is crap ammo and I quickly sold the two remaining cans I had. Just like I hate quirky firearms, I equally despise quirky ammo.

I just picked up 1k rounds of 7.62 of Wolf for $250 shipped. See those deals around once a week online.
That .223 Tula is a pretty good deal even with tax. Cheapest I have seen steel in awhile and even online. Brass has been coming down in price. You would think steel would be too. |
