Alright, that seemed like a valid request.

I'll pm you once I have a list of suggestions from a webmaster' point of view.

I'd Like to see faces with names for people who havent been fortunate enough to meet you all in person. The action shots are cool but you can't see faces.

A list of what you have and prices would be nice. I guess I can just drive down the street and look myself though..

Default Re: website

The only problem with listing all the products we have is that it changes hourly, someone would have to stay on the computer all day long and change it as the inventory changes.
Currently we have Tactical Machinging stripped lowers and the components for them, we have complete lower assemblys, an assortment of new and used shotguns. We also do special orders if the product is not in stock.
We are a master dealer for Kimber, Sig Sauer, Benneli, our inventory changes daily. I wish I could put a current listing of all of our products, but it is almost impossible. We also carry pepper spray.
thanks annie

Just curious but does this mean that whoever built your website (shades of Geocities! ) couldn't get it to talk to your inventory system? No automated inventory system to talk to?

Suggestions, I have a few.

I've been in the shop a few times. Endless phone calls asking either "Where are you" or "How do I buy a gun". So have one page with map and directions on how to get to the shop from anyplace in the bay area. Have another page walking buyers through the process of buying a gun.

Use a javascript print page hyperlink so these pages can be printed out by the customer.

Get rid of the big image banners, flashing text, and big text.

Distracting, hard to read, very hard to read on a cellphone.

Your website could be a really useful tool, just needs some help.

Default new website

It is our new website, if you follow the link to www.irvingtonarmstoo.com
The old one is 3 years old, that one is www.irvingtonarms.com
Two totally different websites.
Thank you for your input, a little harsh, but any suggestions from you ?

I am working with the web guy to use the suggestions, I have been given.

We are in the business to sell guns, not websites, any input is welcomed that would make it easier to use.

thank you for the inputs from the people who have pm'd me.

While I know you guys are trying to sell guns and not websites, the sad truth is that you will be judged by your internet presence, especially by new participants in the sport.

With that out of the way, I'd recommend you start by looking at your competitors. Reeds and Bay Area Gun Vault both have very clean, good websites.

What I really LIKE about your site is the bios of the staff. Helps give the store the personal feel that I know and love from Irvington Arms.

What I don't like...
  1. Frame organization: it looks unpolished and unprofessional. Use one of the competitors as an example of how to fix this. Perhaps shrink the "tabs" to four or five MAJOR sections, and have those open up to subsections when clicked. I can discuss this more if you'd like. Hell, I may be willing to help overhaul this site.
  2. Colors: there are too many and it makes the page lose the uniform feel. Try to stick to some themes. One color for text is best, maybe an additional for headings or fine print.
  3. 3D Text: Sorry, this looks like someone was having fun with a mid 90's drawing program. It really just looks lame.
  4. Gun "comments": Not sure what to call this. The boxes surrounding the various guns for sale. People have their own preconceived notions about weapons. This is also very hard to maintain; any time you have a sale you'll have to make a new graphic. Recommend losing it, come up with a simple layout which has basic photo thumbnails of the guns, price, description and whatnot.
Hope this helps!

One thing is your Font. Use Veranda or another font specifically designed for web use so that it is easier to read.

Another is the lack of enlargement capability with photos.

On: http://www.irvingtonarmstoo.com/dave.html
His email does not connect.

His email does not connect

http://www.irvingtonarmstoo.com/martin.html
No link to his email

Also keep your old URL. The new website seems like some hack off job.

I would try and find a designer that can make the site "cleaner," more fluid. The way things are set up is mainly banner form. Identify your main audience and target them mainly. Your ads jump all over. You can create a general sales banner to make it easy but always look for a "clean" look. Its hard to explain but visit other retailers' websites and see how they set themselves up.

ie: https://www.exilemachine.net/shop/

If you want me to delete let me know.

Just some things I noticed.

We had to change the URL because the old one crashed and we did not have access to it, trust me I did not want to change it since it is on our business cards.

I am working with him on changes, but he is out of town with his family for easter break I will use the suggestions, they will be up within the next week thanks for all the input. It is a learning experience, the old website was done professionally, but we do not have access.

thanks again Annie

Thats such a bummer about the old site. So there is no way to get in?

Instead of "too" at the end of your URL I'd do "v2" or something similar.

We only have the "too" site to test stuff out.
We plan to get the original URL in a couple months. I want this all to be staitened out by then.

I wanted to thank you guys for the feedback and sugestions.
You have echoed me to the tee. I wanted my web guy to hear it from someone besides me,, cause he cant seem to hear what I'm saying.

Thans Again!
