Default ~OVER~Mini AK Build and barrel thread/recrown Party- *Inland Empire* -Jan 22nd, 2011

FEB build party info and sign up HERE.

This is just a one day gathering for some I.E. AK builders to come and do things in the furtherance of building/finishing their AK's.

This will be for about 5 people, 8am-ish to 5pm-ish. If you have some tools you know you will be using, bring them. If you have none, I have you covered.

Things to do include:
Folding flats (AK builder only please)
Grind rails
Fit mag catch
MIG welding rails
Heat treating holes (MAPP and Acetylene)
Setting rivets (rivet squeezer and long rivet jig)
Installing barrels (new or OE)
Setting head space
Drilling barrel pin
Reaming anything (5mm, 7mm, and oversized holes to .300")
Populating barrel
Drilling gas port (Romy)
Drill 3mm & 4mm pin holes
Alum Oxide blasting
Parkerizing

PM me with what you'd like to get done or to reserve a spot. I'd like to avoid bottle necks or lines for any one thing if I can. Price varies on what you'd like to get done: $20-$50 (for whole day/completing a whole rifle). Lurkers OK with guests approval. I have some parts if your stuck, but they aren't cheap so come prepared! This will all be indoors, but tailgate AK'ing is pretty damn convenient!

Things I *can* do but don't without prep time and customer desire:
Duracoat/cerakote/paint
Torch welding
milling of stuff (*cough*AR PPWTS*Cough*)

Things I *CANNOT* do:
Anodizing
CNC work
5.45x39 headspacing (unless you bring go/no-go gauges)

If we get done before dark we can jet over to the range 20 minutes away for test firing. No crazy mag dumps unless we are packed in the cars ready to jet out!

Lunch can either be BBQ hotdogs or favorite pizza. BYOB, LOC AOK.

Justin

No need to post here to get your spot. This isn't a roll call thread and the identities will be change to protect the innocent.

Unless you consider the grassy 100 yards from front gate to the back yard "off road", that's a negative.

2 spots left.

I will be placing an AK-Builder order on the 7th of Jan. If you need anything just send me a shopping list and I'll collect when we party. I have some NIB Tapco 10 rounders if your thinking of buying some. AKB's price as they came from Curtis.

If your going to need any special tooling, let me know now so I can arrange to buy/borrow/rent/have it for use. Within reason of course.

Atto, generally yes, unless the gas port was already pre-drilled when bought.

That's what I kinda fingered . Z are you going to show up as well ?

Atto- these guys are correct. If you know your barrel will work with a certain size hole, ill make sure to have one available.

Negative. But I'm not opposed to buying what would be needed to do it on my lathe or just a threading die at minimum. All my US barrels come threaded from AofA.

You are probably looking at a 5 hour drive, one way, from where you are.

Yep, yahoo says 4.5 hours. If your ever in the area (including the 22nd) give me a holler the day before so I can have it all warmed up and ready to cook.

As of now I'd say room for one more builder.

We can cut them down and profile them no prob. I'll order a real parting tool too.

As for a perfect crown or threading, I'm still at a loss but have seen some professional tools I'd like to get.

X and Jeff, I'd be honored to have You guys over.

Ill place the threading order tomorrow when I'm at a PC. While I'm there, what other sizes should I be getting besides 14x1LH and .308 for general AK and (maybe) AR goodness?

I saw a nice professional/budget crowning tool I'm trying to find again as well.

Justin

Ill place the threading order tomorrow when I'm at a PC. While I'm there, what other sizes should I be getting besides 14x1LH and .308 for general AK and (maybe) AR goodness?

I saw a nice professional/budget crowning tool I'm trying to find again as well.

Justin
