I am definitely in if there is still space available. I can bring a bench top drill press and any necessary consumables.

Received my payment yet? Mailed it a week ago, I haven't checked to see if it was cashed yet.

Thanks for going to all the trouble, good sir.

I'll probably bring some tools regardless of being needed or just extra, but the list includes a barrel press tool for punching barrels out of trunnions, a dremel and cutoff wheels, drill press, 12 ton press, 5mm and 7mm reamers, a few thread taps, MAPP gas, and old-style AK-builder flat bending jig.

I also have some number/letter punches for marking receivers, but they're freehand, no way to keep them aligned so long words get pretty messy looking.

Dreadnought78, I regretfully have to give my spot up for the build party. Thanks for the consideration and I hope to attend a build one day. Jess

Bringing any compliance parts, rebuilds, 10-rounders, BB's or featureless parts, JK? I could use one US piston if you have them!

I'm bringing my kydex press, heat gun, and AR kydex grip example (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=39534) if anyone else want to go DIY featureless. The thread above has a good shopping list if you want to go this route bring some kydex, a sacrificial grip, devcon plastic wielder and/or Chicago screws, a sacrificial mixing container and stir sticks and some clamps. Oh, and if you want to do the thumbstud, bring a bit of derlin rod and a deck screw.

I'm going to try to hit up a plastics shop before the build party and get some kydex from Interstate Plastics or TAP plastics, so I might have some extra, we'll see.

My plans have slightly changed, I doubt I'll make it on friday depending on how late y'all are going to play. I'll be there bright and early Saturday. What time does the party start Saturday?

Default Today was a good day...

...and I actually finished an AK! We finished demilling everything last night, bent up the flat, and then started this morning and got it all put together in one day.

Obviously couldn't have done it without Frank, Al, Vasily, and pretty much everyone else there. Thanks a lot guys. Frank did an awesome job hosting the build party. Thanks again for all your help.

Here she is all done:

Just got home and finished cleaning my rifle and putting it back together. What a great day. It seemed like a lot got done, and there was a good amount of room to work. I saw quite a few builds come out of the park tank before I left. The park turned out a nice light black/dark grey color, and seemed to have a very even color even on the heat treated areas.

On a another note, I seemed to have lost the pin for my lower handguard retainer. I got home and the pin was not in the retainer. I didn't even know that those could come out. If anyone finds it please send me a PM, other wise I'm going to have to find a creative way of keeping my lower handguard retainer in place. Right now I have a spare axis pin in there.

Thanks again for a great, productive build party. I couldn't have done it without everyones help.

Here's a pic. The flash makes the park look a little lighter than it is, and shows some of the oil. Next step is to finish with some Alumahyde II after another thorough degreasing.

Awesome time, and congrats to all that got thier rifles completed. I have to admit, I have a new found respect for the AK, but as simplistic as they are, they sure require alot of specialized tooling. Thanks to all the guys that knew how to use them! Frank, great party bro, sorry I had to bail early, but glad it wrapped up well, Al, Vassily, and Frank, thanks for the wealth of info you guys had, and were willing to share. Mine will be done soon, and I'll post pics once its all done. Good seeing/meeting you guys, John it had been a while, and Matt, (lol) what can I say? F it, its an AK!

Great time today. Hope everybody got the attention and help they needed. I don't think I want to see another virgin barrel! LOL My feet ache sooooo bad. I'm bringin' a mechanics stool next time.

It was outstanding to see so many AK's completed and almost completed today. Sorry I didn't get to meet or remember everybody (or their usernames). Good seeing those I haven't seen in awhile. Thanks to everybody that brought tools (& Eli, sorry I still haven't returned your rivet tool but it came in real handy ). A GREAT BIG THANKS to Frank & Visily,

Can't wait til the next one. Might even build an AK also. :P And I still didn't bend my flat.
