I've seen some really nice Field grades coming out of CMP over the last couple weeks. You can check CMP's 1911 forum for pics.

Good luck with whatever you decide upon.

Congrats! I didn't know you got to choose at this point. But given the choice I would go Service Grade.

If you don't mind me asking - what was your RNG #?

Yes you are given a choice, choice may be Service ,Field or Rack or only Field and Rack depending on what they have graded at the time.
Mine arrived yesterday and number was 6719

Just got the call!!

For those still waiting, I was #70XX. I was offered all three grades and I went with Service.

They didn’t have my proof of marksmanship for some reason, but they said not a problem, just email it in, which I just did.

Looking forward to see what shows up!!

Everything I’ve ever received from CMP was better than advertised, M1’s, Carbines, 1903’s, .22’s.

Well Done 1911ers!

The endless speculation on multiple forums that the CMP pistols would be worn out rattle-trap junk proved not to be correct. My guess that at least some of the pistols would be immediately flipped at $1,500 is proving to be correct.

Is anyone else having trouble with their order?

Got the call, asked for a SG, gave them my payment info, done deal.

Get an email a day later: “You failed to provide your FFL info. You have 5 days to comply” WTF?!? Had my FFL re-email their info.

Get another email last week: “You don’t have proof of marksmanship. You have 5 days to comply” WTF?!? I immediately scanned and emailed PoM.

Get another email today: “There appears to have been a miscommunication. You sent an 03. We have to ship to an 01/02/07. You have 5 days to comply.” WTF?!?

My FFL has processed a bunch of these 1911’s for other customers. They know the CMP drill. They’ve sent their FFL three times for my order now.

I know I sent everything (including PoM) the first time through, and they verified all my info when they called for payment.

I’ve never had this kind of experience with the CMP. I know the 1911 side is separate from the Garand side, but damn this is frustrating haha!!

They called me, haha!!

Excellent polite customer service as always. They weren’t sure what was up, but the pistol should go out today and arrive tomorrow.

I got the call today. My number was 6962. She said "I have you down for a Service Grade, right?" I replied yes. I'll post pics when it comes in.

A buddy just got the call, he was #75xx. He was told they were out of Service Grade, so he went with Field.

My understanding is the Army transferred 8,000 pistols to CMP, some went to auction, some were unsellable. Won't be long until the first batch is gone.

They aren't out of Service Grades just out when they called. As they open crates they will find more.

I'm still depressed on the total lack of any communication on the mystical 2nd shipment. I knew these would be nice, but wound up with a number in the 15,000 range.

Hey guys, picked mine up today. Did everyone get the extras?

Mine is missing the technical manual, cable lock and chamber flag.

Did you look under the second piece of foam padding? That's where my manual, lock and chamber flag was.

While I knew CMP hid things for the M1s, I didn't think to check on my 1911. Just checked and found all the goodies including the cleaning rod. WooHoo!!!!

Thanks for the tip.

I got the call on June 28 and am still waiting for my CC to be charged. I get that we just had a holiday weekend but this seems to be taking longer than usual after observing the CMP 1911 Order thread. I called them yesterday morning and ended up leaving a message. Still no call back.

FWIW: They hit my CC right after I got off the phone with them on 07/09. Got the shipping email a few minutes later.
