Default Fresno County Sheriff and +10 Magazines * UPDATE post #6

The Firing Line a gun range in Clovis posted the following.

Quote:
We just received this email from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department regarding carrying magazines holding more than 10 rounds in your CCW firearm, and legally purchased during “Freedom Week”. As of now, the Sheriff will not allow permit holders to carry magazines holding more than 10 rounds...regardless of legality in having purchased them. Questions and issues with this should be taken up with the issuing jurisdiction, not the CCW instructors. Please pass this information along so all permit holders know the Fresno Sheriff’s position.

Bet me some idiot went and asked him if it was ok.

And what if your mag wasn't purchased during freedom week?

People need to quit asking CADOJ and CLEO's opinions on CCW, legality, etc.

Updated!
This is posted on the Fresno County Sheriff’s Facebook page today:

Quote:
Due to recent court rulings, there has been some confusion in the community regarding the legality of carrying high capacity magazines if you are the holder of a valid permit from our office to carry a concealed weapon (CCW).

"The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office policy is that CCW permit holders are authorized to carry any handgun magazine that is currently permitted by law. It is the responsibility of the CCW permit holder to be in compliance with current laws and regulations with an understanding that laws are continually changing due to ongoing court decisions."

A reputable resource to follow legal developments is the California Peace Officers' Association website.

Easy son, Sheriff Mims has been a staunch supporter of CCW and 2A for many, many years, get your facts straight on who you are aiming your anger at before shooting off.

My guess is the person who originally replied to their email request got overruled by someone higher. Mims herself perhaps.
