Does this little revolver look interesting anyone else or is it just me?

Kinda wish the cylinder matched the rest of the gun, but it does look good for the price. Probably worth the extra $100 over a heritage for the nicer fit/finish and quality. I could never see paying $500+ for the single six, but this is more appealing.

Ruger really stepped up their game since Bill died. He held them back with his conservative line up of guns. His idea of a CCW piece is the SP-101.

They aren't going to be here for a month if you look at the ad, so you should be good. Even if they come in within that 30 days you can tell them when you want to start DROS.

Going to be stopping by my local one tomorrow.

Nice. Wouldn’t feel as bad carrying one in a holster at that price either.

Is it the same lockwork as a Single Six? A beater SA 22 would be handy to have. I get a little crigney handing my Ruger Bisley .22 to a neophyte after the last one managed to scratch the ejector rod housing.

I’m adding it to my list - maybe I need one in July as a B-day gift to myself.

Looks to me to be a fixed sight, aluminum alloy frames Single Six with painted finish.

I'm unfamiliar with revolvers. What do you look for so you dont have to cock the hammer every shot? Double action feature?

Yes. A DA revolver allows you to do both cocking by hand or cocking/firing by pulling the trigger. THis Ruger revolver is SA (single action). The trigger only does one thing: Drop the hammer.

Yes, DA/SA revolvers cock with long trigger pull or if cocked manually, have a short light trigger pull.
This is a single-action revolver, and you have to manually cock the hammer each time, and manually unload each chamber in the cylinder (just the way God intended it!)

And an aluminum cylinder, if I read the spec sheet correctly. I'm sure Ruger put those two lines around the cylinder to match the 3rd one that will appear courtesy of the cylinder bolt. Probably a steel lined alloy barrel judging by its girth.

Is Ruger outsourcing to Arminus?

All in all - blech.

I have plenty of Rugers. This won't be one of them.

Alloy cylinders for 22s have been around since 1997.

Looks like a neat revolver for the price, and I’ll bet that Ruger will sell a bunch. This targets the market that is unwilling to pay much money for “just a 22.”

I’ve got a single six that I’m quite happy with, so I’ll probably take a pass...unless a bunch of calgunners buy em and start to sing their praises.

Maybe an adj sight version comes out in a year or two?

https://www.realguns.com/articles/1096.htm

The construction of the Ruger Wrangler is quite a departure from the Single Six. The Wrangler’s grip frame zinc die cast, where the Single Six is either steel or aluminum, depending on model. Zinc castings are impact and corrosion resistant, cast to a tight tolerance and require virtually no secondary finishing after being pulled from the mold. The process of die casting is faster than other materials, less material is required because of the precision of the casting and the molds are permanent. An excellent way of reducing cost without diminishing quality. The cylinder frame is aluminum, the barrel and cylinder are made of alloy steel.

Article compares against single-six.

At least the Heritage comes with nice real wood grips. Those plastic grips just don't do it for me. New grips would add $40

This is incorrect. Ruger's own video states the frame is aluminum. Not zinc.

Dammit. I thought I was done buying guns in Kalifornia. Looks like I have to buy one more.

It would pair well with a Henry AR-7 for the person who is low on firearm inventory, but wanted to throw together an inexpensive emergency kit. This Wrangler would not at all be my first choice, but it checks a nice box for those seeking a utilitarian firearm on the cheap. It would also make a good trainer/first gun too.

Zinc grip frame means that this revolver cannot be sold in places that have a "saturday night special" melting point law.

The Wrangler™ is not available for sale in Minnesota and Massachusetts.

I stand corrected. I didn't consider the grip frame being different than the cylinder frame.

The cool thing for ( some?/all? ) Ruger SA revolvers is that grip frames can be swapped out and replaced.

https://www.brownells.com/search/ind...ames&ksubmit=y

It'll be neat to see what folks do with the Wrangler.

I just might be talking myself into buying one.

Doesn't turn me on. I'm not big on aluminum revolvers, or sleeved guns. Life's to short to buy cheap guns. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I've never really liked the look of two tone revolvers although it can look okay on some semi auto pistols.

But as mentioned above at that low price you could always just buy the color you like if it was the silver or the bronze and have your cylinder cerakoted waiter if you enjoyed the pistol and thought you would be keeping it.
