Which P320?
.
I am looking into the Sig P320 and seeking some insight as to which model I should be looking for. Suggestions? .

Not for carry. I have that covered. Something that is multi function... target, defense, etc. I've just come to the conclusion that I need a new gun. .

I like my X Carry. Full size grip with compact slide. If you want full size, go for a X5.

i have two P320's, both compact - one in FDE and the other Nitron - extremely pleased with both and i usually don't buy multiple firearms in the same model - i bought the FDE 320 first and liked it so much i bought another one for no real reason at all
off roster in CA but if you can find one to PPT you probably won't regret it

I'd get full size for HD, target, range toy , etc. but that just me.

I have a compact and it’s a blast at the range; the gun itself is so modular any version is worth it and upgradeable to fit your needs. That being said my friend has an x-vtac and loves it; and spent the extra money out of the gate because he knew that’s what he wanted.

I got my compact in FDE. It already had the trigger upgrade. I love it and would recommend the compact. I’m much more accurate with it than my Glock 19s. So much so I’m going to sell off the Glocks.

Since not for carry, you can get a full size to start with. And if you want to change grips or go with optics, just get the conversion kits or individual grips. The X5 or the P320RX are a good starting point. |

If you get the X5, I'll come to your house and beat you up with it.

I bought a P320RX and then bought the x frame for it that doesn’t have magwell and weight being I only had 17 end magazines. I’m really happy with how the gun shoots. I haven’t sent it back for the voluntary repair yet either. It sure is a lot of fun to shoot. I like it better than my P226.
I plan at some point in purchasing the compact rx slide and get the carry x frame so I can have two different sizes. |

On a serious note; nice to be in Free State where choices are unlimited. Someday we'll be out of this commie state and will be able to pick up Sig 225-A1. Been salivating over this one since I first heard of it.

thanks for the heads up on that one, i'll have you to thank - im impressed nah, im just pulling your antenna that is a very nice looking SIG though and i hadn't seen it before im still rooting for you guys, seriously sucks how CA has screwed over gun owners - some really nice, technologically sound firearms new to the market out there and CA is neglecting to realize or accept the fact that many of them are probably safer than what is currently available on the roster all in the name of suppressing gun ownership and getting away with it

that would be SOOOOO significant for CA gun owners - the roster is absurd, but we already know it was never about "safe" guns anyway - it's always been about thinning the herd and banning anything new to hit the market

I vote for the m17 version of the 320. Bought one recently to compare to the 19x. I’m very happy with it. I’m a military small arms, civilian clone collector so it was kind of a must have for me. It’s a very nice shooter. No idea what the california premium in one would be, but free state prices on them are very reasonable. The 320 is not a gun i’d consider for ccw, so service size is the right size for me. OWB carry, open or lazy concealed to and from the range. Will eventually get a nice drop leg for it.

I’m not really up on the Sig modularity options as they don’t interest me. I wanted basically what the Army bought to replace the m9. If and when Sig releases the more compact m18, I will buy that one too. The trigger group of the 320’s is the firearm, so you can supposedly swap grip frames, slides, bbl length etc. I’m not familiar if the m17 trigger group with the thumb safety has different available grip frames available or not. I have no plans or desires to change it from it’s factory configuration. The main reason I wanted it was because it beat the Glock 19x, of which i’m a big fan of. Wanted to be able to compare them for myself, and own an example of current mil issue sidearm. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There are version of the 320 (Compact) that compare to the Glock 19, and (Subcompact) to the Glock 26. So they are certainly suitable for ccw. Just takes a grip frame and slide assembly, which SIG sells as Caliber X-Change kits.
There are manual safety versions of the Compact, dunno if it requires a safety-specific slide. My understanding of the grip frames is they only require a small slot for the safety. There are people that have bought the ordinary grip frame and carved out the slot themselves. |

Nice thing about the P320 is that no matter which size you get you can always change it out...

I think you'd be happy with the M17. I handled one of those and the X Five a few days ago, actually like the M17 a little better, though I haven't shot either so that may change my mind. If you live in free America they're less than $700 and Sig is offering two free 21-round magazines with purchase, which is a great deal.

The 320 is one of the few handguns I've ever kept more than one version of. In my safe can be found:
9MM full size non-optic 9MM full size RX 9MM Carry RX a spare 9MM subcompact conversion kit a spare 9MM compact conversion kit .45 full size (it's a tank, but one of the most comfortable, soft shooting .45s in my safe) If it were me, I'd try to find an RX version, that way you have the option of adding optics without losing the iron sights. That being said, you could start with just about any version and add conversion kits as you wish, that's one of the beauties of the 320's modular design. The "voluntary upgrade" trigger is nice enough that I've felt no need to utilize any aftermarket trigger upgrades... another unusual point in the 320's favor.

And I thought I was the only one with 2 P320's, I agree; RX is probably the way to go to get your feet wet. There's so many great X-change kits for it thought the possibility really is limitless if you don't like how it performs out of the box.
