I totally agree. It only took about a week for me to get my CCW renewal so I say why risk changing a good thing.

Also, the Dan Marshall campaign seems to have a lot of money pouring into it. He has posters all over the county and just this week I saw a huge "Elect Dan Marshall" billboard along I80 in Vacaville. His main campaign theme is "change" and I'm concerned what that could mean a negative thing for CCWs.

Does anyone know how many active CCWs the SO has issued?

Does anyone have the new Solano CCW? I understand the SO is issuing CCW cards instead of the old piece of paper

I got my modification about a month ago, still laminated on paper. Hopefully they'll switch over to card form soon.

Took 10 days after the training to get the actual CCW. Do you guys just fold it and keep it in your wallet?

Yep, don't cut it to make it fit (outside trim area is ok) as Pinder informed me any alterations to the permit is invalid... I know as I tuned in my old permit during my modification to turn in the old one

The crease doesn't mess up the print on the CCW?

I trimmed mine down as much as possible with breaking integrity of laminate of Permit. I have maybe 1/16” all around and just fold it in half and stick in bill area of wallet.

Sheriff-elect Essick of Sonoma Co gives us some current (he probably just called those sheriffs and asked them), rough CCW estimates for Sonoma and nearby counties.

CCWs at 11:55 to 13:55

Sonoma pop.: 500k
#CCWs: 135

Solano pop.: 450k
#CCWs: "just under 6,000"

Mendo pop.: 90k
#CCWs: "about 3,000"

See the linked video at post #634 at: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...352811&page=16

Essick and other candidates (before the June election) addressed the Sonoma Co Dem Party. Essick says he switched to Dem but considers himself a "moderate" Dem. I can't wait for him to take office and we can change Sonoma Co to light green on the CA CCW GC map.

If you want to discuss him more, best to post over there rather than take this Solano thread off topic.

I noticed that since I picked up my permit in late 2017, the list of approved instructors has gone through some changes, some instructors have been removed, maybe one or two added. Does anyone know what would cause them to stop using a particular instructor/company?

Any luck yet? I finally received my notice to proceed around the 15th of November. I completed and updated my information in their online system with my completion certificate this past weekend and am now just waiting for the actual CCW. For those interested and following this thread...

Applied online 6/5/2018
Interviewed on 6/21/2018
Live Scan Completed on 6/22/2018
Proceed to train on 11/15/2018
Submitted proof of training on 11/24/2018
Awaiting CCW now.

Anyone recently approved that knows the ballpark of how long it takes once training is submitted? I read one person say about 10 days, while another said one month. Hoping to have mine sooner rather than later since my case has almost taken 6 months to get through (despite being an honorably discharged veteran with a clean background.)

6 months hahaha that’s funny, be thankful as they seem to have cut about three months off what it use to be. On the plus side renewals are super fast.

That doesn't seem to be the consensus with many in this group. It was looking like a 3 to 4 month turn around in a few other posts over the last year or so.

I distinctly recall one stating that they received their CCW in hand 10 days after submitting proof of training. And there were also a few who submitted months after me, that got their proceed to train within 2 months of applying.

Its different for everyone, but the average times since the Sherrif started issuing from start to finish has been about 9 months on average. Some faster some longer.

How's the renewal process working now and current time frames for issue of new permit? Mine is up in June and I just got online to check the process and it's changed since I last looked. Further, they're not accepting applications for renewal unless it's within 45 days of your permit expiration. So it looks like I have some time. Nonetheless....already scheduled my renewal class.

Anything more I should know?

Take ur class first get it over with then within the 45 day mark apply, total time from start to finish for me about six months ago was exactly one week from time of applying to permit pickup. I would wait as long as possible to current permit expiration date since the new permit will be when you pick it up not the lid permit date.

Does anyone have a link that shows the conditions the sheriff puts on licensee's? Things like notifying when getting contacted by LE, or where permit is valid.

There is a pamphlet given out when you receive or renew your permit. I have a copy from my last renewal but do not have a link so that you can see it on line. Its called the "Carry Concealed Weapon-CCW Terms Of License". There are 12 points under Restrictions.

Default Solano CCW Survey

All,

Just received and responded to an email from Deputy Pinder about my initial and renewal CCW classes.

Questions were about various aspects of the class, things I liked, things I thought should be changed, etc...

Some were very specific about the class meeting the required times, did I qual with all firearms that are listed on my CCW, etc....

I responded and wanted to encourage everyone to respond if they get a similar email as we want the program to continue, but also we need to support the trainers so that they stay in business and keep providing the services we need.

I trained/qualified/renewed with Blueridge, and could honestly say that my experiences were very positive and that the classes met the standards required by the Sheriff.

Default Renewal Due in June - May Not Renew

Unfortunately, I may be moving out of Solano county this year over to Sonoma County and the timing of my renewal is such that I need to renew by the middle of June, which means that I would have to give up my CCW a few months later.

As much as I do not want to not renew in Solano, it seems like a waste of time and money to renew for just a few months.

I am pondering whether to attempt applying in Sonoma County once I move there (which is where I am from originally and where I work now).

I know that the new Sheriff has loosened up a bit and I do have a solid good cause (I often, but irregularly, have to carry large sums of cash).

I will keep peeking in here no matter what as Solano has been a bit of light in the darkness of California when it comes to CCW, which I hope continues after I leave.
