The only place I've seen that regularly has powder is the Brass Pro in Manteca and there's no way of knowing what they'll have. I've driven by there on the way out to Yosemite, and then it it on the way back a couple of days later and each time they'll have two powders but it's two different powders.

They had some low limit on purchases - two pounds I think. And their prices aren't good - I was all proud of myself for picking up some powder without hazmat, but I paid $30/pound plus tax and online it's $20/pound. Should have just waited for the next Powder Valley shipment...

user pro-nra on CG is selling IMR4064. Fantastic guy to deal with. Definitely a straight shooter. I bought a bunch from him yesterday.

Bass pro in manteca only has R17 on the shelf (WSM powder), was there yesterday. They also have almost no primers, or brass and want all the money for them. They've got a decent projectile selection but the prices are a bit tall.

I have a pound of 3031 that I won't use that I'll sell ya. You can have it for 30 bucks. I'm in bay area, PM if you want it.

If you can't get powder from PV then the price difference seems irrelevant. Waiting only means still not having it for longer while everyone else buys 48lbs out from under you. If you need it you need it.

I've had very little trouble getting powder at PV. The only issue is that they usually only get in one maker at a time so you end up getting dinged for hazmat more times than ideal.

I've got an extra 8lb of IMR 3031 that showed up in July. I store powder with a couple pounds of dessicant.
I shoot with pro-nra gas gun and vintage when I can. He is a good guy too!

$172 for 8lb jug which is my cost. PM if wanted.

Go to the Cow Palace Gun Show on April 12-13. The Miwall Corporation will be there. They almost always have IMR4064 in 1 and 8# containers for sale.

Actually nothing wrong with doing that when it is contained. For example, you open a container on a humid day and then close it. You've allowed moisture into the container for the powder, an excellent dessicant on its own, to soak up the moisture.
I have many pounds of pyrotechnic powders processed at work and we put the dessicant in the container every single time but, the powder is in its own bag inside.

Try Fetterly in Petaluma -- he's low stress.

Also check USI in Concord.
