Default Ca Dept Fish & Game Draws ...

... bite. Does anyone get picked for these draws? This year I entered for the San Jacinto duck blinds (8 draws alone for this), the Jones Ranch Quail Hunt, the Sleepy Creek Ranch Quail hunt, and the Tejon Ranch Pig hunt. The results: "unsuccessful." I didn't get picked for squat. What's going on? Does anyone know the odds of getting picked? The fee for these draws are like $10 a pop. I thought everyone who entered Tejon ranch got to go.

I put in for roughly 30 waterfowl refuge days and drew zero.

I haven't actively hunted California since I started college. Mostly because I have lived in areas where there is no public land, and I'm not rich enough to own my own private land. It sucks, but it's the way it is.

The draw rate for San Jacinto is about 1in 30. Others are worse. I got 6 total draws and my BIL got 8 between Wister and SJ. Those draws are only $1.34 for each draw. The share draws seem overly expensive but there are only 3 draws per tejon hunt and you are competing against me and everyone else.

Just have to be lucky.

I think you are mistaken here. If you pony up 500$ (or is it more now?) for the POR you get to go. A draw is just that, a draw.

Spyder, if you still live in sonoma county you are near some large swathes of blm and national forest.

Yea, I'm still here...North is the only way to go, and I do when I get a chance. I just haven't planned a big hunt trip for in CA in several years. Random bird/squirrel/cottontail hunts pop up, but my big game I go out of state for. Guess I was spoiled when I grew up, and could hunt most things less than a half hour from home!

Tried Turkey, Duck, upland and Pig and got pulled for a one-day duck blind this year. 1 out of 10 is not bad odds.
