Default CCW & handgun roster

I read in the forum that S&W M&P's are dropping off the CA. handgun roster. My concern is that my app for CCW is in process and i listed my M&P as my carry. Might this affect my application? Could i be denied based on the M&P dropping off the roster?

Can someone point me in the direction to learn more about the history/rules of the handgun roster? - Thanks

Roster only effects guns you can buy from an FFL in CA. Nothing else matters or is effected.

Some issuing agencies do have the requirement that guns on the license also be on the Roster.

There's no Penal Code requirement that it be so, and IMO no benefit to that requirement.

I had two non roster guns on my permit in Placer when I first got it.

That isn't the case. Solano doesn't require the guns on your permit to be on the roster.

Each agency is unique.

I carry a Ruger LC9 and a full size m&p 40. Both off roster or soon to be off roster. All semi autos will be off roster over the next few years.

Luckily my agency only cares that you know how to safely handle it and shoot it. I have a LC9 and a HK45c on my permit.
