Default Perris BLM casualty

A target shooter fired off a round that richocheted and struck someone in the chest today during an event in Perris, a sheriff's deputy said.

Sheriff's deputies received a 911 call at 1:26 p.m. about the accidental shooting that took place at Christmas Tree Lane and Santa Rosa Mine Road.

The injured person was taken to a hospital for treatment in unknown condition, Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Mike Vasquez said.

The victim was driven to an area near Washington Street in order to meet up with sheriff's deputies, Vasquez said.

The shooting happened on Bureau of Land Management property, on which the shooter and the victim were among an estimated 200 people participating at a shooting range event, Vasquez said.

It was not immediately known from what the gunshot rebounded, the deputy said.

Can anyone confirm this? Is the site still open?

I have no info or anything positive to add.

I just hope this doesn't lead to closure of the area.

Might get more response if you change the title to "Perris BLM casualty"

Both of these articles point to what we all know as the Perris BLM area. The wound seems not to be super serious because the person was taken to Washington st to meet with sheriffs before going to the hospital.

Wow I was there that same weekend. I left at 1pm cause I was getting hungry and it was dangerous. It was really crowded that day. There were a few time were I had to tell the folks next to us to watch were they pointed their guns. At one point one of the kid had a malfunction and pointed the gun at his face to see what happened. The second time he flagged our group with a loaded gun, that's when I had enough and went to tell them to watch him. They were cool and understood my issues but still not worth getting injured. So that's when we too off to get some grub.
