Default Sprint preparing bid for T-Mobile AGAIN?!?!?!?!?!

If Sprint did manage to purchase T-Mobile, it would have a combined postpaid subscriber base of about 53 million customers still trailing far behind AT&T and Verizon. That might make regulators more likely to let the deal pass, but there's little doubt Sprint should gear up for a battle if it wants to make this purchase.
Sprint's network sucks, and started creeping for no reason at all, the next minute. Scary for me, as I tried them for a week, and it was so crappy that I went to T-Mobile 4g, now it appears I might soon be back on that crap!

There's been talk about this for more than 6 months.

How you think an acquisition would works isn't how it works. Sprint would buy T-Mobile, their cell sites (that they own), their core, and spectrum.

I can see this being an easy way to get POPs, but I don't think it's necessary. Sprint's network has lagged due to financial issues, specifically not having the capital to build a 4G network. With the influx of capital form SoftBank ($22B) and the purchase of Clearwire, Sprint now has more spectrum (2x) then anyone else and the capital to build their network.

Regulators just shot down ATT a year or two ago for trying the same thing with TMO.I dont see why they would approve this unless Sprint is in danger of folding and needs to be rescued.

Just dropped TMobile for AT&T. Could not get service in my house or anywhere on my property, seems I live on a t mobile deadzone which spans in about a 600 ft radius. Tried their signal extender/amplifier. Gave me one bar of 4g coverage and would bounce straight back to 2g often. T mobile was horrible, customer service was amazing, unfortunately I only know that because my bill was never right and spent about 45-90 minutes on the phone with them each month.

Didn't T-Mobile buy MetroPCS recently? Seemed like an odd buy as they use two different cell techs (GSM vs. CDMA), so it is not like the can leverage/combine either network.

Sprint is CDMA. Again, seems like an odd thing to buy a GSM carrier like T-Mobile.

ATT buying T-Mobile at least made sense as both are GSM.

Plus just read T-Mobile is shutting down the MetroPCS CDMA network, so again this talk of a Sprint/T-Mobile merger is odd from a technical standpoint.

They (DOJ) want 4 cell carriers in the US. We really have 2 major carriers and 2 lesser carriers (when measuring POPs). T-Mobile/Spring combined would make for a more level, 3 carrier field.

Given that in almost every other established market there are 3 major cell carriers, I think it would happen eventually. Watch out for Dish to jump in as well.
