I don't know of any "clubs", but may I ask what you mean by long range distance? 100, 200, 600, 1,000 yards? If you are new, you will want to learn to master the closer distances first before you go way out and discourage yourself. Burro Canyon has a 200 yard range, and Angeles goes all the way out to 600 yards. BLM land in the desert is an option if you take the time to buy maps and scout locations.

I don't know where you would go for longer distances if that's what you are looking for. For that, you would probably would have to find a club in the strict sense of the word. I have heard that there are a couple, but I can't think of who they are off the top of my head.

I believe the steel target at 500+ yards at angeles is pretty big. But how good are your grouping at closer range?

Edit: Based on this http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=784401 the Target at 500 yards is 15" o-o? just check their website and it seems like you shoot paper up to 300yards. So... I would say try to shoot grouping at 300yards and work on your fundamental

Santa margarita gun club holds monthly matches at camp Pendleton. There are mid-range matches held at 600 yards and long range matches held at 1000 yards. You can use iron sights or scope. Go to smgunclub.org and check the schedule.
