I have a few. But one was given to me by a certain general. It was made out of the pieces of the last plane to have been worked on at a certain classified facility. Cool one.

But I don't carry **** around. I don't need people to buy me a round that bad. Lol.

I have a few, the highest ranking was given to me by Admiral Mullen while he was acting as CJCS.

Question for you (military) all...

I was given a coin by a friend of mine who served.

I was really honored, and I really appreciated the coin.

Unfortunately, it was lost (with other cherished items).

Is it wrong of me to buy a replacement one? I have seen my exact one for sale...

I see nothing at all wrong with that.

As a civi I only have one also from a civilian enterprise. However I have shoulder patches from folks I have worked with or transported and keep those in my car velcroed to the roof. Makes for interesting car talk. I'm pretty sure Ill end up buying if I whip it out for the challenge but its all in good fun and at least i'll be in good company

There was a time when they were rare and they were earned. You bought a lot of drinks for your team mates until you earned it in their eyes, usually doing something ridiculous like carrying a case of beer strapped to your ruck during a climb or some kind of dare most people would rather not attempt. It seems that by the late-90s they were all too common and something you could just go out an buy at Ranger Joe's or the PX.

Coin I cherish: During a deployment to Turkey I was given a coin by the USASOC CSM

Coin I'm not so sure about: After OIF I, we did an NTC rotation and in the middle of leading a raid with the G force, a pair of blackhawks swooped in and landed on the objective. Out pops a couple general officers and an entourage with Paul Wolfowitz who made us stop mid assault, shake his hand and take pictures with us, ask us a bunch of questions but not listen to the answers then turn around and leave on the birds. On the way out his adjunct gave us a bunch of DepSecDef coins. After the dust cleared we all looked at each other in MILES gear and asked "Game on?"

Sgt. Ball n Chains coin collection. Notice how over the years the coins get bigger and flashier and oddball shapes. It's become a bit ridiculous really.
