This really sucks. The Ruger 10/22 is my Favorite .22 rifle I own.
There's a hole in their minds, just wait.

While I am sure it will pass, I have some hope that this could backfire spectacularly on Sacramento. Since this is a complete ban on the sale of all semi-auto rifles with detachable magazines I have hope that they will be sued for 2nd amendment violations, and given the "in common use" language in the Heller decision it has a good chance of being successful since I cannot imagine how the state would argue that the most common rifles in the country(semi-autos with detachable magazines) are not "In common use".

This, and all the other dumb bills will immediately be challenged in court. That's why we need to each give something for the fight, whether through Cal-Guns, NRA, CRPA, or Second Amendment Foundation. They are all gearing up for the fight, let's help them out a little.

I know from personal experience that the cops know about every gun you have legally purchased. I used to work for a city (non public safety) and the cops (in an official capacity) told my supervisor about my guns. Tell me I wasn't surprised when my boss told me.

A-number one reason not to keep all of them in the same place.

Agreed, Cal-Guns, NRA etc. It might be wise to also throw some support to Andy Vidak who has an A rating from the NRA and is in a run off election for the California State Senate this July! He only needed another 116 votes back in March. Now he has to campaign in the run off. Details here http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=787392

They made a couple of changes to the bill on the 5th of August and have completely dropped rimfire weapons from the list.

See Section 30515(a)(1). Does that mean 22LR rimfires with detachable mags are all exempt? For now, maybe, but there's no telling for how much longer given that our rights to enjoy the shooting sports are constantly under attack.

I agree whole-heartedly with the following posts. We must resist these unconstitutional "laws" through non-compliance, NON-registration.

"Gun control" is really "people control!" Just ask the 290,000,000 people disarmed then killed by their own governments in the 20th century.
So true Shamaz.

Registration ALWAYS leads to confiscation at some point or another.

The people offering the handouts/entitlements are the progressive-demorcrats. The P-D'ds are getting the vote of the LWE folks. The dumbing down of kids in public screwels didnt help with with this either.

To sum it up, the problem is:

Open borders and massive influx of low educated, low earning illegals.
Low/ no educated voters being pumped out of public SCREWels.
Low/ no educated low earning adults voting for handouts.
Progressive-Liberals bribing low-informed voters with entitlements.
Allowing illegals to break the law and come here to have 13 kids (WHO VOTE for more entitlements)

It has NOTHING to do with a few SMART folks leaving. But you are welcome to stay and be part of the gun ban carnage.

Im afraid its up to the states now. If the "FREE" states dont start fighting back the Fed-Machine then we WILL lose this country AWKI.
Keep up the good work Oregon -- this summer their legislature rejected ALL of the proposed anti-gun bills. Keep up the amazing Bill of Rights defending work Idaho-Montana-Wyoming of the American Redoubt.

If this passes, your children own center-fire rifles, and AW's cannot be registered by your children, then there is no legal way to comply with this...

More fees??? What's next?, .22 LR bullet registration fees? or they might want all of us to have a bullet license card... a card that registers all of us to have the right to buy a bullet?

Doesn't Illinois have a law where a person needs a card to buy bullets along with taking a bullet class?

My Marlin Glenfield is in danger. I love my Glenfield. =/

I am aware, but that doesn't help non-rimfire, as one has no way to legally comply except take a gift back or convert it to rimfire.

Nope, not in a free-country...

Cool? I guess it depends on which team you're on. If you mean cool as a smart tactical maneuver by the gun-grabbers, I suppose I'd have to agree. Had the .22 semi language remained, they would have had far more opposition but now it's an almost certainty. They'll come for your .22 later.

Hopefully that's not what's happening. This is a fight about the 2nd Amendment not about .22lr semi-autos and I hope everyone knows that. The State won't be happy until they have removed all firearms from the citizens so they can start on sling shots, BB guns, air rifles/pistol and butter knives.

For 30 years I've watched it: The grabbers make a huge list of demands to gauge opposition, then they back off on a few items, opposition dies down and their laws pass without a hiccup and California gun owners pat each other on the back and call it a victory.

Yep, they will get them all eventually, piece by piece. The problem right now is they have a majority AND THEY KNOW IT. ALL the votes have been along party lines. They have no interest in what we have to say. It is clear as day that our view of these laws are completely opposite of the Lefts views. If you have watched any of the bazillion webcasted meetings/votes, we have our minority representatives opposing these crazy laws, then the left majority just shrugs them off and votes along party lines.

I'm gonna keep on calling, faxing, emailing etc, but my gut tells me that they (and Brown) are just going to go along party lines and continue to pass all these laws.

Does the replacable back strap(s) on my S&W MP 9 meet the requirements of "second hand grip" definition for a centerfire semi automatic pistol accepting a detachable magazine??

How in the world did you think that posting a centerfire pistol question in the rimfire section in a thread about a law that no longer includes rimfire rifles was the correct place to ask this question.

No your backstrap is not what they are talking about when it comes to second hand grip. They mean a grip forward of the trigger.

I know many of you here served in the armed forces. thank you. but this country, right now, isn't worth it. not even a bit. liberty is worth fighting for. this country isn't. period.
for CA, I have to agree. BUT whenever I visit friends in Utah or AZ, or go to the river on the Nevada side I see that its worlds different than CA. CA is really just a piece of ****. I don't think the whole USA is a lost cause.
For God's sake: kids in AZ have machine guns and silencers to look forward to. they will always think that's "TOTALLY RAD", and military video games and gun games will always be around (that's what made me totally obsessed with guns, that but mainly GI JOE)

the gun culture will not be undone in America until machine guns and silencers are fully outlawed mark my words.

I really don't feel CA is part of the USA- when I fly the Amflag on my porch it feels strange- like raising a flag in enemy territory, people are offended or indifferent, I've never seen anyone else run one in my area. It just seems too different than the rest of the country. I recently came back from a trip to see gram and gramps in northern England, and it felt just as different as going to the phoenix gunshow from being home here.

I apologize for that remark.
I was just worried that 22 rimfires were also under attack. I just gifted my kid one this year.

I am totally committed to the 2nd A.
That's why I have a 5+ year NRA membership and support open carry, etc.
I even try and convert people who don't like guns with education every chance I get.

I do get the feeling that in the end California will be ****ing itself and its citizens over.

+1 either remove it or no one else post and let this thread die.

The last thing we want is people to get misinformation here and go and spread more FUD.

This bill affects center fire weapons, not rimfire. It is quite bad enough though.

When this thread started it did affect it, but it was revised.

Maybe they will put rimfire back in next year, it's a death of a thousand cuts.

Somebody mentioned when they will go after BB and air rifles. I heard that New Jersey is already treating pellet guns as other rifles.

They have been for at least 20 years. You couldn't buy a BB gun when I moved there in 1992 without Firearm Purchaser's ID card.
