What dye could stain a laminated stock? I thought the resin would seal all the pores and prevent absorption? And why laminate and not composite? Isn't composite more "impervious" to weather?

No responses... one does not besmirch such a beauty with trivial comments.

That's... beautiful.

It might but as this was the first time I ever sanded painted sanded and polished anything like this stock im sure I made some mistakes. Yes its laminate as are alot of benchrest stocks. no one makes a composite stock for an 82G and yes the are impervious to weather but since I live in dry Cali and will not shoot it in the rain Im not worried about warpage.

Nice job. I recently replaced the barrel and stock on a CZ 455 Varmint, with a Lilja barrel and BR stock that weighs in at 11 pounds(total weight) but yours looks really heavy. I'll bet it rides the rest really well.

Nice rifle. What is the gun chambered in? Is it the stock chambering and action, or did you have the action trued and the barrel set back?

I think you're a copycat, because someone already built one exactly like that, and posted it on RFC. Oh wait, that was you. Seriously good looking piece, I get serious "wood" just looking at it. I'm glad you got a good stock from those guys, because a lot of their output is poorly done as far as the inletting.

What did you do to refinish the stock? Was it finished already and you took all the old finish and stain off?

I have a Boyds coming that I want to change the color on.
