Default 10+1 or 9+1?

I was recently discussing carrying concealed with a friend (still need to complete range, not carrying yet) and he said that it is illegal to carry 10+1, it must be 9+1. I have never heard of that before and had my doubts which is why I am wondering if it is fud or true?

Good question, I don't know either. I thought as long as the magazine only capable of holding 10 rounds you were okay? Shouldn't matter if you have one in the chamber???

Illegal? No restriction on capacity anywhere that I've heard of. Total bs.

your friend is a dumbass. period. i have no patience for this type of nonsense.

ask him to "show" you the penal code that states 10+1 as illegal. you should actually make a bet and make some good money from this.

If you legally own the mags and you have your LTC you can even carry 15+1.
Your friend has no idea what he is talking about.
This of course is dependant on the issueing authority, as they can place whatever restriction they want on the LTC. Although I have not heard of any that place this particular restriction.

The PC states that you cannot manufacture, import, sell, etc magazines thaf hold more than 10 rounds. Nothing mentions guns that hold more than 10.

Key word is "magazine" IMO.

Next time someone tells you something is illegal, ask for proof. Not just that they heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend.

You could carry a 100round drum if you wanted to (and owned it before the ban of course). Your friend sucks.

10+1 is fine. Your friend is wrong.
Also, I know a couple of people that have gone through the LTC training for San Bernardino County recently. They were all told not to carry magazines that hold 10+ rounds. No official restriction, but told not to do it anyway.

FUD - I like many others carry my original issue magazines with my CCW weapons. My spare magazines are always original capacity: carrying G17 mags as my spare for my G19, G22 mags for my G23 and G21 mags for my G30SF.

i have a friend that is even dumber than this. had to explain this to them for a while

You are allowed to carry a concealed handgun that is LOADED they kept telling me it is illegal to carry loaded and one in the chamber with a ccw. They wouldn't believe me when i explained it to them

If you buy a .40 S&W magazine that holds 10 rounds, and put 11 rounds of 9mm in it, and have 1 in the chamber, still good with 11+1. Magazine was designed for 10 of the original round.

I let the argument die there because it wasnt worth it. Hes not a "power trip" type but he definitely made it apparent that he "knows" the law! lol
You need to print the law and show him. That way he doesn't accidentally violate one of your fellow gun owners rights.
