No freaking kidding. I am trying to amass as much .22 lr as I can before the mail order ban happens.
I am at 20,000 rounds now, my goal is to triple that. |

I have 20,000 rounds that I paid 15.95 a brick for almost a year ago. I have not shot a single round in almost a year now. I am not going to participate in this stupidity. Of all things, 22, the only reason I ever shot the stuff is because it was cheap. I have enough to hunt squirrels for 5 life times. I have pursued other hobbies and could care less if I ever go to a range again at this point.

Shipping is always a killer. I never buy ammo online unless I get a free shipping code. Just not worth it. I would rather buy local or not shoot.

Think of shipping this way ... could you pay some guy to drive from MO (where MidwayUSA is) with a box of .22lr and deliver it to your doorstep? Do you think he'd charge you more than $15 to do it? Or how much time/money would it cost you to go to MO and get the box?
Well, that's how I try to think about it as I get reamed for shipping ... |

That is a good sign Remington Golden Bullet bulk ammo is shipping and out there, I haven't even seen it listed online or in stores since before Obama 2/Sandy Hook.
Golden bullets are my favorite load in all my guns. |

Honestly, I'm not as upset with the prices now as I am with availability. I've found plenty of powder and primers for all my other stuff. I've seen 556 available for a long time. Prices high but still available. And now prices are coming down for it. 22's are still my favorite thing to shoot and my boys love to shoot too. Fortunately I found several bricks either online or in the marketplace so at he least we can shoot. But we go less frequently and shoot a little less. Trying to stretch it out. I'll be happier when shelves have ammo regardless the price.

Gosh, I remember when Fed Bulk 550 pack was $7.98 @ WallyWorld, might have actually been cheaper than that. WWB 9mm was about $9/100rnds & WWB 45 about $17/18 for 100rnds. . . . . . if I knew, if we all knew. . . . better than stocks
End of last year, even when things were getting scarce, I sold off my stash of SK Jadg & Wolf Match on CGN for $50/500 Round Brick & CCI SV for $28-30/500 Round Brick . . . .Sold it here for what I paid or less than, ate the shipping. "WE" are driving up these prices. Wish we could have a dont buy ____ till prices come down period.

34 a brick isn't bad. Right before the panic I picked up a case of quiet 22lr for 28 a brick, bought a case for free shipping. Our club has a "silent night" shoot where we shoot 22's with quiet ammo.
Looking on craigs list it still seems to be hovering around $50 a brick ftf. And local shops are still having a tough time keeping it on their shelves. A buddy just told me he could only buy 100 pack at our local gun shop. I haven't seen any real relief yet but it is encouraging that some folks are able to buy it mail order. |

I remember buckets of 22lr for almost nothing. Back when I could fill my mini-bike for .28c per gallon for premium. Colt AR's were dirt cheap and Russian AK's with paratrooper stock and milled receiver were 99 bucks. The chinese milled were 79. A case of 556 was 75.00. You could get any semi-auto rifle you wanted with NO wait. AK, AR, UZI, MAC10, HK91, HK93, Galil, FNFAL, Dragonov's (tiger) etc. Buckets of OFB were 15.00. Cost me almost nothing to reload (like 33 dollars per K) I miss those days Last edited by problemchild; 07-27-2013 at 9:31 PM.. |
