It depends on the options but it's closer to 3500.

Unless you are a Master or High Master class shooter you would be better off spending your money on a loaded model with the medium weight match barrel.

My standard M1A will shoot 1 1/2" groups off the bench at 100 yards with Lake City surplus ammo.

Rather than purchasing a SAI Supermatch, I would suggest buying either a Fulton Armory or LRB receiver. The Fulton Armory one is cast and is a lot cheaper than the LRB, which is forged. Get a Krieger heavy pattern barrel, a parts kit with USGI parts from Treeline M14. Have a M14 armourer like Ted Brown to bed and assemble it. I did my LRB build at around $3000.

Ted Brown is the real deal. His work on assembling my LRB was far better at delivery than any M14 pattern rifle that I've handled to date.

I'm 1% short of Master and my Super Match will shoot really small groups, well all tens and Xs anyway, I just have to do my part. My personal opinion is that Super Matches are very special and worth the dough but you can build up a gun just as good or better for a little less money. Go to the M14forum.com for all the poop.
