Default Post you range bag checklist

Went to the range last Tuesday with some friends and brought everything but my targets. I have a checklist for when I go camping but don't have one for going to the range. Thought I should get one started and wanted to see if anyone else has a list already or could share what they bring.

So here I go, please post what you bring to the range so I can get some ideas for a good checklist. Maybe list indoor range, outdoor range, BLM?

1. Guns
2. Ammo
3. Electronic hearing
5. Ear plugs
6. Glasses
7. Targets
8. Staple gun
9. Tape
10. Marker
11. Ammo loader
12. Screw driver
13. Gun lube
14. Magazines... Should have been higher on list
15. Holster
16. Folding table - blm
17. Canopy - blm
18. Water - blm
19. Spotting scope
20. Tape measure
21. Sunscreen
22. Range book ( notepad)
23. Tools - Allen, torx, etc.
24. Cleaning supplies
25. Key to range bag lock
26. Binder clips to hang targets
27. Tape
28. Chairs - Blm
29. Wet wipes
30. Towel
31. First aid - gun shot wound
32. Fire extinguisher - blm

Great info so far, totally forgot notepad. And yes, need cleaning tools.

And never thought of using binder clips!!!! Great idea, that's why I love this forum.

And I have a combo lock so I won't forget the keys!!! Haha

Sunscreen for BLM lol, it gets crazy hot out there. A hat is a good idea too.

Along with that folding table, bring some lawn chairs.

Keep me coming, all good info. Although here in San Diego we don't need bug spray but hey, this list can be for others as well.

An aluminum rod to remove squibs. One of those roller nut picker uppers, to pick up spent brass.

Don't have many squibs, and I wouldn't feel comfortable poking out the live round with an aluminum rod, is that what you were thinking? Are these that common?

Op's list is about identical to mine. But my list is all in my head and last time I went out I forgot ammo and targets. So maybe I should do a written checklist lol

No that's when the bullet gets stuck in the barrel mostly happens when people reload and a to light of charge. That's mostly by accident that's why it's important to pay attention when your shooting reloads.

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

since I generally have to drive about 2 hours to get to a reasonable BLM site and an hour to get to good outdoor range (and so mostly shoot indoors) my typical checklist goes like this:
-guns
-ammo
-ear&eye protection

Well, i jut packed up to go shooting and was killing a little time looking around on CG.

I would add:

white cotton towel - Good to wipe off sweaty hands , wipe off gun.
Blue micro fiber towel - I like to lay my gun on the towel when not in use(reloading/ target change)

For the live of god and all that is holy, bring a fire extinguisher! I was the only person with one today, and we almost had a fire at at BLM area. That could have cost us a good shooting site.

Looked like either a bad luck ricochet, or a round hit some spray paint cans that had been dumped out there. Everyone swears that they weren't using steel.
Luckily it was small, everyone ceased fire to help put it out and after we were done we even picked out the trash in the area.

Shovel and TP for BLM land. Someones gonna need it.
Pop up canopy and empty sandbags to fill to hold it down if it gets windy.

I was going over this thread to help me put together a list that would include
the regular range, benchrest, BLM, and appleseed. I consolidated what others had posted

checklist? isnt that why you have a BAG??

checklist:

bag.
ammo. put ammo in bag.
Gun. put gun in gunbag.

take bag and gunbag and put in car.

What, do you pack and unpack your range bag every single trip? need a checklist?
