Default New Iphone App - Makes your phone a rifle scope!!!

Just saw this in my local newspaper. The gun climate is a little different up here.

"to the iPhone gyroscope, the crosshairs can calibrate to shifted positions, providing the shooter with accurate targeting in any situation. SWAT team members, for example, can even shoot around wall corners without exposing themselves to enemy fire."

"For starters, the Inteliscope is a fully-functional short-range scope with the capability for 5x digital zoom.
What’s more, the Inteliscope app provides a host of other useful information. Environmental factors that can influence accuracy, like local prevailing winds, can appear on screen. The app has a built-in compass and GPS position for navigation, and users can record video from their perspective — a useful tool for reviewing police training exercises. It can even use the iPhone flash as a flashlight or a strobe to disorient enemy combatants in dark environments."

Here is the link to the article:

http://www.bonnercountydailybee.com/...a4bcf887a.html

And to the company:

http://www.inteliscopes.com

Looks like they are expecting brisk sales right of the bat so hopefully it's as good as they think.
I never thought I would possibly need an Iphone until now.

Looks like a cool idea , but for $70 i can save up a few more bucks and get a decent scope.

Wonder how the iPhone would handle recoil forces? Also, iPhone camera is a bit laggy when you move it very quickly, like a quarter of a second of a delay. Wonder how effective an iPhone actually would be as a scope.

This seems rather impractical and overly priced. It may be fun to try out if it was free, but you are trying to get a clear optical picture on a 10mm camera sensor. The optical quality compared to even the cheapest Chinese scopes is garbage on the iPhone.

What would work better is if I could adapt my $2000 Nikkor 70-200mm camera lenses to my rifles. These would be better than even the most expensive rifle scopes out there, with a much brighter picture, close to zero chromatic aberration and artifacts, with a multitude of focal ranges that could focus as close at 4.6 feet away, perfectly sharp. In gun terms, it has an optical bell diameter of 77mm so you can only imagine how much more light this lens can gather. I am a professional photographer and with my cameras, they basically can see in the dark.

Would it not illuminate the shooters face, which would be a tactical no-no?

lol, there's nothing "tactical" about this thing. It's a camera app and a mounting bracket for an iphone.

Do you think that they could have a skin/filter that allow you to superimpose images of zombies over what you are seeing ?

Might sell well with the airsoft crowd

What happens when you are trying to snipe someone and right before you squeeze, your wife calls and screw things up again?

Something like that happened to me yesterday when I was playing online poker. I had a full house with aces and sixes. Was about to bet when the wife called. She gave me a huge honeydo list and by the time she hung up, the game folded my hand...

I recall about 30 years ago, living in Las Vegas when pagers were popular for contacting folks to complete a certain kind of highly illegal activity. Seems that one such entrepreneur was busy eluding Metro and had almost made a clean getaway when an incoming phone call gave away his position. Known to carry a weapon he was suitably engaged by Sheriff Moran's finest. The fellow was evidently unaware of an essential difference between cover and concealment ......
