Went there for a number of years, we PCS'd last year and I miss it. I dont know if John is still running things but he was super cool and I enjoyed several perks being a member there. Make you sure you leave Online ICE cards, being a prior NAF employee those things really help the smaller places look good and stay open.

Fun place to shoot with real nice people. On days that the aircraft are flying you aren't allowed to shoot any rifle larger that a .22, but handguns are good to go anytime. There is also a small free range about 5 min out the grass valley gate. I would stay away from this range on the weekends though. It gets packed and the people shooting aren't very safe.

I've been a member off and on since...'86? Anyhoo, John is still running the joint. Carri and her mom help run it with John. The range is mostly unsupervised, so keep your head on a swivel when you are downrange of the red line while checking targets. They have skeet and trap there as well along with an archery and paintball range. Wed & Fri there is a lunch special. Pretty tasty.

Civilians at one time could join the Rod and Gun. Not sure if that is still true. Call out there during the day (google the numba) and find out. I heard thru the grapevine that Security Forces put the kabosh on issuing day passes for civi's to use the R&G and the golf course. But call to confirm.

I would also be interested in knowing if civilians can join. I separated from the Air Force back in 96 with an Honorable Discharge. I just did my 4 active and 4 inactive. So I don't get base privileges. I am looking at buying a home in Plumas Lake which is right next to Beale AFB. Not much else to do around there yet. I'm gonna need some social activities. The lack of things to do in the area makes me really which you got to keep your privileges without an official "retirement". Normally it wouldn’t matter beyond nostalgia purposes, but there is NOTHING around that area except the base and the houses.

Looks like I may have answered my own question.
Per their facebook page... $40/yr - Active Duty/Retired (Family Membership) $50/yr - Civilian (Family Membership) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beale...036639&sk=info |

Hey Tac, call and confirm that the R&G can still leave a pass at the gate for R&G civi members to get on base.
